Great culture, caring leaders, good strategies
May 9, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You can bring your authentic self to work. The people are amazing, humble, smart, collaborative, and professional. The company values employees' health and well-being. There are tons of events by 13 Employee Resource Groups happening every week, such as nutrition, fitness, parenting, equity, etc. During the re-org, leaders gave months of heads-ups to be transparent, shared the rationale of the changes, and gave people whose jobs were impacted additional time to wrap up work. I know most companies don't give notice at all and just cut people off on the same day. I feel the company truly put people at the center. This week, the company is hosting Career Week, where senior leaders genuinely share their career tips and invite external speakers to share insights. Flexibility is valued at work. During summer, there is half day off on Fridays. Every month, there is a quiet day where people are encouraged to focus on individual work without going to meetings or replying to emails. Overall, a wonderful place to work.
Cons
I feel not every employee's potential is released.

Pros
The people you work with day in and day out are amazing. These folks are super collaborative, incredibly insightful, and will make you laugh along the way. Salary is at market rate. Benefits are 7/10.
Cons
But unfortunately despite all the positives, I cannot stress how stressful and chaotic it is to work here. Because the systems and software are years old and middle to senior management have not recently worked in the field, every deadline, insight, and expectation is unachievable. Mistakes are made frequently. The organizations metrics continue to suffer. And the CEO just announced layoffs to compensate. As a prime example of how poor the execution is here, certain employees who were laid off only found out when their Outlook was turned off prior to any conversation with the manager. During the townhall announcing layoffs, our CEO was asked how can we feel secure in our positions moving forward, she answered "I can't control your emotions. You choose how you react." If you see someone driving erratically on the highway, I too will remember it's my responsibility to not panic. If you decide to still apply here because you need the money, I'm sorry wherever your working is that much worse.

Thank you for your feedback, which we’re sharing with appropriate leaders. We strive to create a culture of transparency, where every one of us feels valued and recognized for our work and ideas. At the town hall you mention, our CEO apologized for the administrative mistake that meant several teammates did not hear first-hand that their roles had been eliminated. That was not our intention and we have spoken with those teammates to apologize personally. We believe our new organizational structure plus a $500 million, multi-year investment in our digital transformation will help us build a stronger, better Clorox and enhance the way we all work, unlocking faster decision making and better outcomes for our consumers, customers and teammates. We’re disappointed you haven’t had a positive experience at Clorox. We’re always open to ideas on how we can continue to improve as we continue our journey to build a stronger, better company. If you’re willing, please contact us at People@clorox.com. We would welcome the opportunity to hear more from you.

R&D REview
May 11, 2023 - Research and Development Scientist I in Pleasanton, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Common bay area tech company benefits (on-site gym, flexible remote/on-site work schedule, bonus determined by sales performance) -Wealth of knowledgeable and experienced scientist mentors -Countless opportunities to get involved with employee resource groups, recruiting efforts, internship program, and community initiatives -Excellent internal specialized groups (micro, GLP, analytical, etc.) -Well-maintained lab facilities and testing equipment -Excellent Kaiser and UHC health plans, FMLA, etc. -Many opportunities to try on responsibilities in other departments
Cons
-Open office format (but many drop-in/reservable meeting rooms) -No room to negotiate starting salary -Depending on group, mandatory on-site days -Depending on group, identifying and pushing the decision-maker can be difficult, leaving you in "hurry up and wait" mode on projects -Turnover/rotation in partner departments, like sales and marketing, is high, which requires frequent training of new collaborators

Clorox - A Great Place to Work for Software Engineers
Feb 10, 2023 - Senior Software Engineer in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I've been working at Clorox as a senior software engineer for the past two years, and I must say that it has been a great experience so far. The company culture is supportive and encouraging, which makes it easy for employees to do their best work. One of the things I appreciate about working at Clorox is the emphasis on work-life balance. The company offers flexible schedules and remote work options, which is especially helpful for those with families. The company also invests in the well-being of its employees, offering on-site gyms and wellness programs. Another aspect that I enjoy about working at Clorox is the variety of projects I get to work on. As a software engineer, I am challenged to solve complex technical problems, but I am also given the freedom to innovate and try new approaches. The company encourages continuous learning and provides opportunities for growth, such as training programs and cross-functional projects. The leadership at Clorox is also top-notch. The senior management team is approachable and invested in the success of the company and its employees. They provide clear guidance and are open to feedback, which creates a positive work environment.
Cons
In conclusion, I highly recommend Clorox as a great place to work for software engineers. The company values its employees, offers a supportive culture, and provides opportunities for growth and development. If you're looking for a challenging and fulfilling career in software engineering, I encourage you to consider Clorox.

Cannot Recommend at this time
Apr 23, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Flexible work options, lower to middle management generally cares about employees.
Cons
Company is currently reorganizing and cutting costs. A lot of people with a lot of years are being let go, their loyalty and dedication was definitely not valued. This is causing low morale for people not in upper management who keep saying how great this reorganization will be. Upper management just doesn’t care about the people, just their own bonuses and the stock price.
