I worked at The Connor Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Decent schedule for management.

    Cons

Lack of structured training; which makes everyone have a very different experience.
The training that they do have in classroom setting on occasion is child-like.
    Benefits aren't great.
    Turnover is high.
    Very political environment.
    Culture is college like.

    Pros

You work with a lot of great people, residents and co workers. They do reward for hardwork.

    Cons

The goals are difficult to reach. Upper management will task overload you, and if you say it's too much they promise help but never deliver. As someone stated in another review it's hard to sell a run down apartment. If residents complain about a maintenance issue the Connor Group will only BandAid the problem and not fix it properly which makes it difficult on sales associates to explain to residents why their issue isn't properly fixed. It's a company whose values are difficult to support.

    Pros

Always busy and have something to do lol

    Cons

Always wanting to ad to your workload with the same small window for turns and tricked me into a alternate position I signed up for a matinence tech position I got it and they made a a turn tech expect 4 hour apartment turns which includes shampooing the carpet full roll out paint and cut in and trip and painting countertops and pressure washing and everything else and they will wonder why you are not done sooner

    Advice to Management

Get some remodeling experience and understand how long it really takes to complete these talks

I have been working at The Connor Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They do a great job of showering you with money and gifts. They have an awards banquet twice a year to celebrate your accomplishments. If you are a "sales dog" do will do any and everything no matter what to get the sale, this place is for you.

    Cons

Their reputation in the industry is not the best. If you have worked for a different management company before you would NOT want to work here. In fact if you have had experience elsewhere you most likely won't get hired. The company is very close knit. There is no HR, which in it's self causes many problems. Upper level management does play favoritism, if you are not a favorite you will get pushed out - trust me. Same thing with if you are not a woman, no need to apply (going back to the fact they have no HR being an issue). The company values are very attractive, however the actions that follow do not line up. If you are a person that truly loves the client no matter the bottom line, this is not the place for you. TCG is interested in the bottom line only. They will do right by the resident ONLY when it effects their money. Many complaints go unrecognized, because it doesn't matter. The company walks a very fine line between what is right for them and bad for the resident. I was warned by industry leaders about the company, but the pay was so attractive! I ended up not being happy at all, and the feeling was mutual. If you do not fit in the social crowd, you will not make it long. The upper level management WILL gossip about you and foster an environment where it is very hard for you work effectively. If you have an issue with anyone that works there, (again there is no HR) it will not be handled correctly.

    Advice to Management

The culture you have created does not leave room for any free thinkers or innovators. It is done the Connor way or else. Your value: Long Term trumps Short Term, is not followed at all. Your business it to turn properties, invest and increase value in the shortest time possible...so truly you value short term. I'm not even sure how you came up with this being a value.

I worked at The Connor Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * You get to be in the mix from day 1

    Cons

    * Depending on your position, the hours vary from 60 hours for an admin to 80+ for other positions.
    * The compensation isn't worth the effort and ridiculous stress - you end up working close to $10/hr.
    * The upper management is treated like kings and the workers are regularly stepped on and thrown some scraps to keep their hopes for potential advancement alive.
    * The culture of 'if you're high up enough, you can do whatever you want and not be held accountable' is discouraging and goes against the claimed company values.
    * Other issues, ones with more serious legal implications, exist.

    Advice to Management

Bring in external leadership. Preferably from a public company that is used to following rules, not cheating, and a coherent structure.

I have been working at The Connor Group full-time

    Pros

The ladies I worked with. Some aspects of training program. If the upper management likes you- you will get additional bonuses.

    Cons

Greed. Unethical. You are Praised for using high pressure sales tactics and forcing people to stay in communities that they run to the ground.

    Advice to Management

Take more pride in the properties not just the bottom line. The business model could be tweaked a little to provide better customer service and resident retention.

    Pros

Great interview process in the beginning

    Cons

You work minimum 6 days a week now that they're open Sundays. Too many issues with paychecks not being received, training program isn't worked the way they tell you it will, do ANYTHING to make money and keep occupancy, they fluff numbers for the big boss Larry.

    Advice to Management

    Be honest and not shady!

I have been working at The Connor Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay IF you are new to the industry - but comparable if you have experience.

    Cons

As the PCM you will work more than one weekend per month (as you are told in your interview). Bonuses are quarterly (and capped despite your results or achievements) AND your direct reports bonus monthly.

    Advice to Management

None. They wouldn't pay attention anyway.

I have been working at The Connor Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good training program, but too short of duration (not enough time in training)
Holidays off, good bonus structure, decent pay
There are some really good people in the company that work very hard and continue to do the right things for their team.
The company is always trying to improve from their mistakes.

    Cons

VERY long hours (summer time is crazy)
High stress environment (lot's of pressure to meet sales goals)
    Turnover is high
    No HR department
Your success can all depend on which property you are placed at.
Never enough resources (time, payroll, staff, budget) to actually do your job
    Morale seems low

    Advice to Management

    Be realistic with goals.
Get an HR department for your employees.
Keep doing a great job with improving policies and training!
