I worked at The Corp part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Corp provides students at Georgetown with the opportunity to be a part of something real and impactful. I learned a lot about the dynamics between employees, management, and friendships while making some extra spending money for the weekend.

    Cons

The Corp gets a bad image at Georgetown for being exclusive and stuck up. Don't get caught up in the image and never allow yourself to feel better than anyone else because you are a part of it.

    Advice to Management

Add more diversity! This in an area where The Corp gets a lot of flack and deservedly so. There should be a more concerted effort to diversify the company.

    Pros

Friendly students serving the Georgetown community every day with a smile on their faces. A fantastic work environment with the best people I've known

    Cons

No down sides though there is a small acceptance rate into the student group so it's hard for students to get it

    Pros

Lots of flexibility and opportunities to get involved in more capacities than just the position you were hired to. Great ideas, constant innovation. Opportunities to move up exist.

    Cons

Hierarchy, as to be expected in any 400+ employee company. High turnover in upper management because of graduating seniors and incoming freshman, which makes operations/initiatives not as long-term or efficient. Company is responsive to each CEO's vision, however this changes every single year.

    Advice to Management

Keep involving the lower tiers of the company, start building eventual leaders at an earlier stage

I have been working at The Corp part-time

    Pros

Extraordinarily positive social and learning experience. People commit their entire college experience to this company, and it is structured in a way to allow for people to build responsibility.

I have been working at The Corp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

What can I say? The Corp is a great way for current students to supplement their academic studies with work experience in a convenient on campus location. Having responsibilities alongside real company dynamics is an education that you won't find in the classroom. Positions are diverse throughout the Corp services and can help students gain the language necessary to talk with prospective employers in a more nuanced manner.

    Cons

The student body carries a biased view of the Corp, mostly due to perceived hiring selectiveness. At the end of the day, the Corp is a business, not a club, and any expectations of easy admission are not applicable.

Also, some employees are to blame for this negative perception due to casualness in the workplace. For example: social hour on the floor rather than dedicated customer service.

    Advice to Management

Implement more stringent polices that reinforce the seriousness of being a business. Hold employees accountable for all mistakes with financial implications.
