I worked at The Crow's Nest Restaurant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fast pace restaurant with a wonderful local clientele. This establishments offers a great opportunity apply your work ethic and be rewarded with higher position of employment.

    Cons

It has high and low seasons. The winter months don't offer a lot of opportunity to make money.

    Pros

Everyone who works there is amazing, supportive, and kind. I have never worked in a restaurant with no politics or problems with management, except for The Crows Nest.

    Pros

Good money, beautiful "office", respect from management, easy to get time off

    Cons

Have to tip out a very large percentage of server tips, including tipping the kitchen where the Crows nest should pay their cooks more and not rely on servers to. Being made to stand around when your section has not gotten any tables all day just so the management can feel safe should there be a sudden rush.

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within. I have seen many deserving employees get turned down to their request for advancement.

    Pros

Restaurant culture is very good. Management is great and most regulars are nice.

    Cons

Nothing I can think of... you get paid for what you do.

  7. "Tourist trap, cheap clientele, management does not have servers' backs"

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Busier than most Santa Cruz restaurants. Long history continues to draw customers.

    Cons

Draws a pretty cheap class of customer, especially tourists. Menu is overpriced. Management never really supports the staff in any type of conflict. Customer id always right to their face, and should be, but servers and bussers have been fired for issues that were obviously not the employee's fault.
