I have been working at The Dennis Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I may have to think longer about this.

    Cons

Management is rude and disrespectful. Lead Architects are bullies. You have to be in their good side to move up in the company, in other words: kiss a... Your work is not valued. There is no room for growth. Insurance benefits are not good. The office environment is awful. A lot of office belittlement.

    Advice to Management

Value does who are doing the work and actually pay attention to who has done the majority of the work because that counts. Opportunity for growth would be great and its barely an option right now.

    Pros

Great company! Great people! Given me a lot of experience and really opened my eyes to what post college work will be like. I hear about others with co-op jobs who are not really doing too much real work while I am usually really busy with project work. The atmosphere is fun but you are expected to always do your best and get your work done. I especially enjoyed getting to travel to job-sites, all expenses paid for, and get to see a lot of really neat plants. Also, company parties are great fun. Lots of perks!

    Cons

As a co-op you are expected to do all the little jobs around the office, and you must do them. They can at times be exhausting and you will feel like you are not appreciated.

I worked at The Dennis Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about working for the Dennis Group is the culture. The atmosphere is laid back, and they treat you as a professional with little micromanagement. The culture is somewhat 'anti-corporate', in that management is very approachable and there are not a lot of 'rules' and 'procedures'. Performance expectations are high, and there are tremendous opportunities to learn and drive your career. There is also variety in the work and no two days are the same. The bonus program is very generous.

    Cons

The company has to respond quickly to customer's needs, and travel arrangements can sometimes be last minute. Travel is extensive in most positions, but the company understands that and tries to balance people's work load to prevent burnout.

    Pros

Love the People I work With
    Self Driven Work
    Fun Holiday Parties
    My work is ever Changing
    New things to learn constantly
You will love it here if you love to travel

    Cons

No Office Close to Where I Live
Health Insurance Package Could be Better
    Employee Incentives could be Better
    Compensation could be Better
Bonus program could use some improvement

    Advice to Management

It would be beneficial to have a stronger training program, particularly for the engineers who work here. I would also love to see a more flexible hours of operation, particularly having flex time.

I worked at The Dennis Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Projects were very interesting.
The rate of learning was unequalled.
    Compensation was more than fair.
It was a stable company in a solid industry less effected by the economic swings.
    Management trusted in its staff.
Co-workers were all willing to assist.
Office located within a unique historic building.
There were opportunities to work all over the country and world.
If the opportunity ever were to present itself, I would jump at the opportunity to work for the Dennis Group again.

    Cons

I guess I would suggest a more organized training program for new employees. While anyone can find fault an any group or organization, my experience was nothing but positive. My reason for leaving was personal and had nothing to do with the company. In fact, The Dennis Group tried to make concessions that would help with my situation.

    Advice to Management

Implement a specific training program (mentorship system) to help all engineers understand the unique industry of food processing. The industry is unique and differs from other industries.

    Pros

Great group of people to work with, team environment, and work hard/play hard attitude. Good compensation salary wise with great bonus opportunities.

    Cons

I really enjoy traveling to new client facilities and seeing how things are made, learning new technologies, but some of the projects do require extensive onsite and start-up time to complete your scope of work. This is the case for most large engineering firms.

    Advice to Management

Would like to have an annual formal performance reviews to better understand personal strengths and weaknesses.
