I have been working at The Fifth Business full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company has a long history and lots of knowledgeable staff that are eager to help each other. Creative artists and consultants working together to create an amazing company culture and product/service.

    Cons

If you are embedded in a role sometime you don't get to see your coworkers very often. Individual work assignments can be hit and miss in term of challenges and opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on bringing field consultants back to the home office for meetings. These are so helpful for consultants out and about feeling like they are part of the team.

I worked at The Fifth Business (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with a variety of clients.

    Cons

Management did not have a communications background, and company was more of a staffing agency than a communications agency. Didn't try to fit employees skills and experience with clients needs.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who have a communications background for management positions.

I have been working at The Fifth Business full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a place where employees can stretch their minds to think creatively; a great playground for problem solvers to thrive; always pushing the status quo while also staying abreast of best practices. Work-life balances is good, and a supportive, up-beat environment. We've got such a skilled team, there's practically nothing we've not tackled, and we can do nearly anything involving employee adoption and engagement within organizations.

    Cons

Due to the nature of consulting, the team can be scattered to the four corners of town on projects for good stretches of time. However - not a con - there's still a strong connection to the mother ship to share information and resources to help a client with a range of needs.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the excellent business development effort and bringing the office together in a collaborative way!

    Pros

Great PTO with 401k matching. Gained many friendships and business opportunities during and after employment. Very talented designers & communicators.

    Cons

Work here can be a bit mundane as there was a lack of diversity in clients. Many talented designers here but unfortunately, It was hard to let your creativity shine and blossom since you were always thinking (and most likely dreaming) in green & yellow. If cost per barrel is low in the Oil & Gas sector, office morale became quite low due to the impending lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Diversify clientele and make employees your priority. Happy people produce better work.

    Pros

Opportunity to work with Fortune 500 companies, good work life, very creative designers

    Cons

they staff positions without consideration to employees skills and experience. more concerned about getting clients than ensuring employees are the right fit for the position.
management are clueless and lack experience in communications

    Advice to Management

focus on design, that's the only area you excel at. definitely NOT a communications agency and will never be able to compete with local communications agencies

I worked at The Fifth Business full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for Fifth Business for just over four years. Working there was a great overall experience. The biggest pro was the people. They are some of the most talented consultants, creatives and developers in this business. Collaboration made for exciting project work. We had a really tight team so coming to work every day was a pleasure. I still keep in touch with folks there.

    Cons

Fifth's client base is still heavily weighted in the energy sector so a downturn in that industry really impacts the business. I know efforts are bring made to further diversify the client base.

    Pros

    Compensation is okay, not great; some good clients, but not much variety;

    Cons

Poor, inexperienced local management; very little management support and lack of new opportunities for consultants; little interaction with other consultants; too much time sitting around waiting for another assignment; not much opportunity for growth

    Advice to Management

Senior management should have significant change management and communications experience
