I have been working at The Fox Theatre - Atlanta part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not difficult work, decent pay. Management treats employees well and is flexible with hours. Friendly co-workers. Free shows too.

    Cons

Really not bad, just kind of boring work. Not somewhere you want to stay for a long time. But if you're looking for a part time job while you're in school or something, it's perfect.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. Employees are treated well, and get decent pay. Maybe give more opportunities for advancement/promotion if you want people to stick around for longer.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at The Fox Theatre - Atlanta full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The staff of the Fox Theatre are as awesome as the building itself. The staff here are the best in the business. It's an honor to walk these halls.

    Cons

The executives are highly unaware of the pressures they put on everyone beneath them. They put more and more on the staff until they can't handle anymore and quit or get fired. This is a reoccurring trend going back years. Just put more and more on them without additional compensation until they leave or they crack and get fired. The executives would sooner throw his staff under the bus to a promoter than defend their incredible work. And forget adding additional staff to help with the workload. The company culture which used to win awards is dead. There is no room for advancement. There is no joy in working here anymore.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiding and dictating from your desk. Get on the floor with us. Get into our meetings. Get to know what we do and how hard we work. Reward loyalty and hard work. We deserve better. Or else, you're going to continue to lose great people.

    Pros

This is an awesome company to work for. Management is very nice and organized and they are always willing to work with you. You learn many different skills while working here. The Fox even does workshops and other programs to expand your horizons and experience as an employee. The employees are very nice and informative.

    Cons

Parking is the worst issue. Anyone from Atlanta can tell you how inconvenient it is when parking downtown.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing and this company will always succeed.

I have been working at The Fox Theatre - Atlanta part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very versatile scheduling-well known in community so looks good on resume- a chance to see some great shows

    Cons

wages could be better particularly for ball room shifts, private events. Not the friendliest place I've ever worked. Training to the facility and its history could be better as well as disaster preparedness drills & training as it has a capacity of over 4000.

    Advice to Management

I do not believe you will ever achieve an environment wherein the employees do their best for you if they don't feel like mgmt values the employees. There are too many ques as to how disposable we are to the Fox. If you wish to be "high-end" then you need to assign greater value to the product you offer, not just a higher price. I believe employees are a part of that product and should be valued as such.

    Pros

You learn a lot about Customer Service, you get to take different workshops and classes, and managers work with you and have your best interest at heart. You meet a lot of new people and it is a great environment to work in. You learn a lot about the history and it is a magnificent place with an enchanting history and mesmerizing scenery. This place is one of a kind! Working here never gets boring! This place exposes you to many different cultures its like a museum. They have events and socials for employees as well.

    Cons

You probably won't get as many hours as you would like for certain jobs. Parking can be a pain in the downtown/midtown area.

    Advice to Management

    Management crew is amazing!

I have been working at The Fox Theatre - Atlanta part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Fox Theatre is a really great place to work if you are looking for a job that allows you to have flexible hours. Sometimes you run into famous people. But you cant speak to them.

    Cons

You can work can literally work between 0-35 hours. If it is your main source of income, having 5 hours for a week can really set you back a lot. This is a ass kissing environment so, if your not good at it, you will not make it. No opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Make rules, do not be afraid to enforce the rules....Your the boss, it's your job!

    Pros

History, City Pride, great lower level staff, many opportunities to learn, Employees care about their jobs, the building, thier coworkers.

    Cons

Management turns a blind eye to lower level employees. they are happy to promote you without proper compensation. they take thier employees for granted. the pay gap is very large. they seriously underpay the housekeeping staff hired through Allied. The 5 top paid people make between $90,000 and $250,000 with their bonus. Housekeeping makes just over minimum wage. Worker's with extreme longevity and a knowledge base that is not replicable are paid very little for thier time and are questioned about thier job performance constantly

    Advice to Management

Wake up and look at all levels of your employees, show them you care instead of just putting in the minimum effort. most of this staff loves the Fox and what they do there, they would be happy to show you and talk to you about it if you would simply go speak to them. Sometimes the direct manager is not the best person to talk to about thier job satisfaction, the "HR" manager has too many other jobs, is dismissive, and is good friends with the other managers. the GM is inaccessable and says he cares while doing nothing. the assistant gm refuses to acknowledge the problem.
