I worked at The Fragrance Outlet part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My coworkers and making face-to-face sales were the best part of the job.

    Cons

The company makes you push the knock off fragrances that are way overpriced for their quality. If you don't sale the "premier" fragrances, you get written up and fired.

    Advice to Management

Find a cheaper vendor for fragrances people actually want and keep your merchandise updated and new.

I have been working at The Fragrance Outlet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can try different fragrances without pressure to buy and the store teams are nice to work with. Decent discount. Medical is a decent plan and affordable.

    Cons

No retirement plan at all, no vacation even starts accruing until after 1 year. So 2 years before you can take a full week off. 48 hour work week - minimum. They will dock your salary if you work less, even an hour, but don't pay extra if you go over. Violations in pay practices and complete lack of understanding of California employment laws. They blame the messenger when concerns are brought up. I feel uncomfortable working here.

    Advice to Management

You treat each other like family but need to embrace new people and give them the tool they need to fit in. And follow the law ethically!

    Pros

Small store small teams to manage

    Cons

The company brakes multiple California state laws, they doc your pay if you work. Under 47 hours , they take half your commsion when they feel like it. I lost $1900 in commission because they wanted to take it. Period . I worked almost straight threw the month of December. They do send you on a Cruz ,however it is so they can use it as a tax write off. That's your bonus . and its mandatory to go on it. If you don't participate in there meeting and dinners you get threatens to be fired .

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to get real, quit watching our every move with the cameras and calling to tell us what a bad job were doing .

    Pros

Store Managers and co-workers are great people and make working here bearable.

    Cons

District Managers parrot the same thing everyday, to the point of exhausting all store managers and employees.

Raised performance metrics and changed bonus payouts from monthly to quarterly, thus making sure the company would save money by not paying out entire bonuses and spiffs to all employees

Too much work and not enough pay for the amount of sales you will do for the company. Spiffs are minimal and will be halved unless the entire store hits all metrics, which is impossible for every store to do (only a handful of the 100+ stores nationally hit all the metrics while I worked there).

Forced managers to work everyday, open to close, during the Holiday season (Thanksgiving to New Years), which burnt out a lot of the already hardworking managers.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to please the shareholders by reducing payouts to employees. Stop overworking managers and above all else, pay individual employees for the work they do.

I worked at The Fragrance Outlet full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay rate, not to much traffic inside the store. Employees are goal oriented And some of the bonus are good if you can achieve them

    Cons

Gossiping from all levels of the company
Managers are expendable soft the company
Not competitive prices, nor either products
    Promotions based on ethnicity
    Return policies are very illegal
District managers are rude as well as the company executives.
It a really stressful place. They will force you sell perfumes for $72,99 when customer can find them for $19,99 on eBay.

    Advice to Management

The company needs a new vision in order to survive today's market.
