I worked at The FruitGuys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many. Free fruit and easy commute. They also have ok marketing. San Fran headquarters. Free time when working remotely.

    Cons

Management does not listen. Kissing up to the CEO and upper management gets you everywhere. Fruit is overpriced and Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods will lead to the demise of the company. Cardboard boxes are NOT good for the environment.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your customers. Ethics and integrity over profitability!

I have been working at The FruitGuys full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The FruitGuys offer employees a great culture, plenty of fruit and snacks, and tons of opportunity for growth. The management style is supportive, solution oriented and collaborative. As the business continues to grow each year, there are new challenges and kinks to work out and the company is always responding and finding ways to improve. For example, recently a generous paid sick time policy was instituted to ensure work life balance and a healthy workplace. People will stop coming to work when they are sick because they are trying to protect their vacation time. The big goals for growth and expansion are shared openly at company wide meetings by the CEO creating a strong sense of teamwork and community. Employee feedback is sought after and valued. This is a company that prides itself on doing the right thing by employees, customers, vendors, farmers and EVERYONE. It's not just about making money. The fruit donations to feed hungry people across the country are huge and the company gives thousands in grants to small farms every year. People who are happy as employees here have positive attitudes, are not afraid of hard work, and are willing to speak up with ideas and suggestions. Leave the drama at the door, it doesn't belong here.

    Cons

The pay and benefits may not be on par with some other companies in the Bay Area (hard to compete with the tech giants!) but the work life balance, flexibility and opportunities to learn and grow are huge. How do you put a dollar value on that?

    Advice to Management

Keep listening and soliciting feedback from employees. Keep sharing company goals. Keep empowering employees to hold themselves and each other to the highest standards of quality and service.

I have been working at The FruitGuys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work doesn't seem like work when you are part of something where everyone truly enjoys what they do. From the day I interviewed to the present, best decision I made to apply for a job here!
I look forward to coming into the office each day. Friendly work environment. Fun atmosphere, great people.
So happy to be a part of a company that DOES something. Our GoodWorks program is amazing (Look it up!)
    * Donating fruit to various charities and programs
*The FruitGuys Community Fund - providing sustainability grants to small farms
    *Donate-a-Crate program

    Cons

We sometimes run out of fruit in the kitchen - oh the struggle!!!

I worked at The FruitGuys full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not very much, but will have to say the weekly fruit, flexible schedule and some very nice people.

    Cons

Pretty much everything else, but specifically the very low salary (way below market rate).

    Advice to Management

A whole lot, but they won't/don't listen

I have been working at The FruitGuys full-time

    Pros

Culture of total dedication to making customers happy means people get creative with problem-solving instead of spending every day complaining about their clients or projects. For those who have a vision for their work and are willing to speak up, learn, and collaborate there is room to grow the way you want to. Free fruits and veggies is a solid perk, so is supporting so many really great small farms.

    Cons

Most locations are in big cities where other popular companies offer higher salaries. There are some good trade-offs like more flexibility and the amount of responsibility you can take on quickly, but it's still a challenge on a personal level.

I worked at The FruitGuys full-time

    Pros

Good intentions to benefit community efforts.

    Cons

Closed minded. Culture is an illusion. Misguided in the legal and appropriate way to run a business. Willing to sacrifice the responsibilities of the company over to portray a sympathetic goal.

    Advice to Management

Beware that the long term effects of ignoring basic business ethics will catch up.
