I worked at The Goddard School full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting to work with kids is very rewarding.

    Cons

No benefits, gossiping among the staff, drama. Watched as they hired back former employees after they were fired and they continued to do the same things wrong while the head staff just looked the other way.

    Pros

Will let you know if I think of any

    Cons

Tons of work and not enough compensation or recognition. Office management is poor and enjoys passing the buck for the mistakes that they make on to the teachers and staff. Massive confusion abounds and it doesn't matter whether or not you have degrees or appropriate certification. Some people work their butts off and some don't care at all but nobody is appreciated. It's a little too easy for all the upper level people to throw everyone else under the bus. Most employees are unhappy and best guestimate is that they will end up leaving sooner rather than later

    Advice to Management

wake up and shake it up. Do your job and let the teachers and staff do theirs. Be supportive and stand by your employees. Recognize those that really work hard and those that don't. Get your stuff together.

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible time off, it's a franchise so if you have a great owner and directors it's too not bad. Trainings

    Cons

Low pay, rough clientele, a lot of extra work you need to take home without being compensated. No room for growth.

I worked at The Goddard School full-time

    Pros

Ability to create your own activities within the monthly and weekly theme as a guide. Many resources were available to use to help build your weekly lesson plan. Fellow teachers were friendly and created a positive work environment.

    Cons

Not enough support for teachers in regards to lesson planning time. There were a lot of high standards that were difficult to achieve at times due to large classroom sizes. While there are ratios put into place to ensure proper care at many times these were at a maximum. Pay was unequal to effort and time spent caring for each child while maintaining a clean classroom and meeting parents expectations.

    Advice to Management

Besides paying your employees a higher wage, better support for your teachers would go a long way. Also, I did not appreciate feeling guilty about calling in sick when I have sick days to use specifically for when I am sick.

    Pros

    Teachers care about the children.

    Cons

Management does not listen to employees. 17 people left in a time frame of 1 month and a half. High turnover rate

  8. "Teacher Assistant"

I worked at The Goddard School full-time

    Pros

Loved working with the children! Very clean, organized, and professional setting. Teachers truly care about the children.

    Cons

Low pay in comparison to job responsibilities. Little to no raises. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Offer better pay, based on experience. Parents are paying high dollAR for services. Teachers should be paid better so turn over isn't so high.

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good building, could use a staff space though
    Great families and kids!
Most co-workers care about the kids a lot

    Cons

    Not enough staff
Low pay for the amount of work done at home and at school
No time outside of the classroom
Very little time off - no breaks like the school district
Not enough in service days or planning time
    Poor communication
Several under qualified or just plain horrible teachers, some are borderline abusive

    Advice to Management

Communicate better with teachers, they know the kids and the parents best and should be kept in the loop. Hire more staff who are serious and qualified so there don't need to be nannies called in every day. Pay the teachers what they're worth.
