I worked at The Goddard School (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers! The school day is very structured, which greatly benefits the students. More PTO the longer you work! Lesson plans for every week and developmental portfolios for every month per student.

    Cons

The school is open until 6 pm all week, but that is typical for a daycare/school.

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, competitive pay, knowledgable staff

    Cons

Once you are a lead teacher, there is not much room for growth in management

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great Reputation
    Great 401k 'arching
    Great management
    Excellent facility - Great location
    Everything is digital
Parents receive immediate updates about children
Outdoor play area at San Ramon center is wonderful.
Staff is great - Kind, relaxing, and knowledgable

    Cons

They don't give your references much time to get back to them,
The pay is $2 - $5 less per hour than other offers. That's $4,160 - $10,400 a year. (But the benefits are outstanding!)

    Advice to Management

To be competitive in the Bay Area (CA), you need to offer teachers a competitive salary for that area. You get what you pay for and you will reduce your turn over rate dramatically.

I worked at The Goddard School full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked here for over three years and although it was a difficult job, I felt well supported and encouraged. The owner is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever worked for. He truly cares about his staff and the children. I regret leaving but know ultimately it was the right decision because I don't think the profession was a good fit. I highly recommend anyone looking for a position in preschool to consider working there. Also, the building is also kept spotlessly clean.

    Cons

The pay is not great, but is about average for the industry.

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Caring teachers, wonderful families, and a real home like feel. We all really like each other, hang out often, and enjoy our jobs (even though some days are rougher than others.)

    Cons

We don't get paid enough - but that is not because the owner doesn't value us, it's because this field is funded solely through parent tuition and child care is expensive enough.

    Advice to Management

keep doin what you do :)

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time

    Pros

Kids, parents, teachers, directors, and owners

    Cons

Nothing really. The post on 1/31/17 is nothing like my experience. I received very good training by the directors and definitely was not thrown into a classroom. The only teachers I've seen get demoted are ones that aren't doing a good job. I also don't know why that person would say the management only cares about money. We get all the supplies we need, new toys, new carpets, new flooring throughout the school, a beautiful new playground fence, gifts, and great pay with raises. I believe the teacher that made the post was disgruntled because she was demoted and released for poor performance, so take her comments with a grain of salt.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and open communication.

    Pros

Great standards. Care for the children from management all the way down and families are happy. Management is in the building everyday. Great benefits.

    Cons

I wish my schedule was more consistent but I understand I have to go with everyone else's schedule.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring staff that fit the culture.
