    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at The Hackett Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I can't think of anything good to say.

    Cons

Human Resources are probably the worst resources ever: they just don't care about the employees. Consultants have to work long hours, under too much stress. But it doesn't matter, because if they need to manage quarterly earning performance to make the numbers more attractive for the CEO, they will announce lay offs. If you have good contacts (you're a good friend of the principals or you are the daughter of someone important within the company), you won't be fired. It's not possible to build a career here, and eventually you'll be replaced by remote resources in Uruguay, Mexico or Canada. The directors don’t care about their teams: they just want to keep their jobs. No training, no opportunities, no salary renegotiation, no bonus: not a good company.

    Advice to Management

Nothing, because they will do wathever they want.

    Pros

Overall great group of people in the ranks. A hard working group seems pretty consistent at the client facing level.

    Cons

I was laid off in Jan 2017 with no heads up, no performance hits and a leader in the next generation software. Not sure of the direction they are heading....

    Pros

Great management, interesting projects, lots of opportunity to learn about the latest releases of SAP in the Answerthink division! Great pay, decent benefits and management is flexible and easy to work with and for. Good levels of IP for past versions of SAP.

    Cons

Insufficient resources, projects bid too aggressively, long hours and excessive travel (but quite typical of technology integration firms). Invest in team to build and update the IP to adapt to new versions/releases of products.

    Advice to Management

Build more buffer into projects and avoid committing to 90-120 day go-live deadlines just to win the business. SAP projects are too complex to implement well and quickly, especially with the new technical releases. Build the bench, and invest in the IP.

I have been working at The Hackett Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company with strong financials. Good benefits.

    Cons

80-90% travel. Way to much time on the road. Consequently, working enormous hours during the week with no balance. Everything seems to be crunch time with too aggressive timelines. No resources on the bench and often have to do double duty. Understand we are in a revenue generating business but we need to be careful of burning people out.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic about the work that we can take on.

  10. "A good place for management research"

    Pros

For a research professional, Hackett offers a terrific environment in which to pursue pragmatic management research in the areas of finance, HR, IT, procurement and supply chain. The company values research and IP development and senior research directors are given wide latitude to pursue a full range of topics. Hackett has strong existing IP and a large base of advisory program participants from which to draw upon. It offers lots of opportunities to develop research that gets applied in the field by consultants as well as to interact with practitioners. The leaders of the company are very comfortable with a virtual geographically dispersed workforce which means you can live anywhere you want and don't have to commute to an office. The amount of travel for research directors is very manageable. I've worked in research positions for several different consulting firms during my career and Hackett offers one of the best environments in which to lead research.

    Cons

While the company is generally supportive of research, the leadership embraces a quarter-to-quarter, bottom line mentality which limits its investments to tools and support staff for research. The virtual operating model can present a challenge to collaboration at times.
