I have been working at The Hartford full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, poor Work Environment. Current model do less with more!

    Cons

Poor Work Environment. Do less with more, White male 40-50 "boys"club in full effect with SLT &ELT. The Hartford Way, Drive, Deliver. .come on

    Advice to Management

These mantras are cliche, sometimes insulting. If you want do less with more, than stop with this crap and your staff is not just a number, no work life balance is why poor quality and high turnover.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nothing. This company has gone down hill so much in the past few years. Morale is terrible and management is secretive and dishonest. I was thrilled to get another job and get away from this place.

    Cons

Management lies and are so unethical
No room to advance even though it's all anyone shoves down your throat
Awful benefits, especially the health insurance
    Everything you do is micromanaged
Mediocre colleagues that don't do their job, yet somehow they are rewarded

    Advice to Management

Quit letting talented people leave! Anyone that had half a brain in my group is now gone. Quit letting mediocre employees skate by for years while others handle heavy workloads.

    Pros

Great culture, focus on process improvement and employee skill set development, lively work environment, open to new ideas and employee input.

    Cons

Technological infrastructure, location in downtown Hartford (previously located in Simsbury), reorganization of management structure can occur with greater frequency than is ideal.

I worked at The Hartford full-time

    Pros

    Great Pay
    PTO
    Easy Job
    Overtime Availability
Really liked the training procedure they provided. Its like you learn a specific thing then get to practice on the phone for a day. Then its back to the classroom to learn something else then you get back on the phones the next few days to implement that training. The trainer back in 2013 was excellent. I hope she is still there.

    Cons

    Management
    Work life/ Balance
Only see true success if you get in good with management. Its not about what you know there but who you know and suck up to.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Company Car, bonus. 20-days vacation

    Cons

Small settlement authority. Impossible deadlines, large territory. Too many meetings and continuing education courses diminishes the time available to actually do the job. You must write an estimate on site and get settlement on site all within a small time frame. Outside claims reps are expected to close 10 claims per week. turn-around time is less than 7 days, not allowing enough time to complete a claim assignment and meet their rigid quality review standards.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employee concerns about large territories and drive times. That must be factored in with their metrics for meeting deadlines. There needs to be a better work/life balance.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, ability to buy vacation time, allow remote workers. Company overall is fine, but Claims leaves a lot to be desired.

    Cons

Unreasonable work loads, no work life balance, they micromanage every move, expect perfection and do not appreciate their employees. They have ridiculous expectations with customer service reviews!

    Advice to Management

Quit micromanaging and hire people with experience. Get rid of that ridiculous survey!!
