I have been working at The Hartford full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very nice coworkers , remote worker option

    Cons

You must work at minimum 60 hrs per week to meet benchmarks. You will need to work 70-80 hrs per week to exceed benchmarks. They cannot keep clinical staff due to the extremely high work load, yet they upper management refuses to look at the situation . They just keep hiring more and more new hires who last about 6 months and leave. Employee surveys come back as below average and then staff are punished by extensive weekly meetings to keep going over the topics ie we are responsible for poor outcome on surveys. Everything is constantly nit picked to death with quality scores..no time to actually do the work but instead do petty work so that another new report can be run to show how poorly the worker bees are performing.

    Advice to Management

Stop wasting time and money on employee surveys. Upper management needs to take responsibility for the outcome of surveys. Money is wasted by continuing to hire new staff who last a few mos and leave due to poor management. Young talent is not going to be abused, they can find better opportunities elsewhere Great talent walks right out the door and no one works on the problems . Work to retain employees by actually paying attention to surveys. This was a great company to work but everything changed about 2 years ago and it has steadily declined.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is ok, bonuses if you can meet

    Cons

They do not care about the employee. They will pretend but they care more about the customer. I went to my ex manager out of fear for my safety and had it turned around on me. They expect robot drone like responses even in a stressful situation. Even if not yelling or swearing if they do not like your tone they will use it against you. Worst experience ever. You should be able to go to your manager if you do not feel safe without fear of being punished.

    Advice to Management

Your employees will be more willing to do overtime if you actually have there back. It is a stressful job and NO ONE is perfect. You lost a valuable asset to the company because you did not address concerns for safety.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, 9-5 hours for those that want a steady schedule, nice offices.

    Cons

Stressful, management is inept, training is lacking & leaves you unprepared for the demands, the workload is overwhelming and unfair (if your team member doesn't finish their work and you do, YOU have pick up their slack in the name of being "One Hartford"), no culture, you'e just a cog in the wheel of a massive company that only see dollar signs. Multiple employees in the Short Term Disability department went out of work on disability and mental health leaves due to the stress and exhaustion of the job, and mgmt did nothing about it. If you're a corporate, soulless drone, this is the place for you. Layoffs are also happening, so the company is likely beginning to tank due to the lack of leadership and total disregard for their employees, current or former.

    Advice to Management

Stop working your employees like slavers and have some compassion for the difficult and tedious jobs we have. Stop being so concerned with your metrics that you treat your analysts like numbers and not people with lives and emotions.
