I have been working at The Hartford full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, awesome coworkers, Brand name

    Cons

The company knows it's weaknesses but refuses to commit to fixing them. They work hard to cut losses but in the end it has caused the company to decline and employees to flock to other companies.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging and stop changing things that done need it. Allow all business units to be on the same page.

    Pros

    * Company that is striving to be the best in the market for its LOB.
    * Committed leadership.
    * Employees fully engaged with the work and long term vision for the organization.

    Cons

    * There were instances when decisions looked like they were made with questionable facts.
    * Process should be an enabler not a drag on Programs.

    Advice to Management

    * Focus on people and enable them to succeed. You are getting there bt need more to be done.
    * Need more freedom for teams to take decisions and execution.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Coworkers were great. 401k normal benefit. PTO was good.

    Cons

Leadership not held accountable. Overworked and overpaid in working long hours. Health insurance is too expensive. Not easy to use pto.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees about work goals being unrealistic, and micromanaged by managers. Employees are customers as well not just the claimants.

    Pros

You will have the opportunity to grow your career if you can demonstrate the ability to lead, communicate, have a team and customer focus mentality and be able to solve problems and innovate. Gaining lateral experience in different roles and lines of business is very important. If you do an excellent job at your role you will be rewarded with extra projects and responsibilities. Ultimately you own your career development and will have monthly coaching and feedback conversations with your supervisor.

    Cons

Change and innovation is constant so you have to very adaptable. I don't think it's a con but you need the ability to be open to change.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I cannot think of a single one. Maybe badge accessed printers. The security guards are really nice. The building was nice and modern.

    Cons

    No employee advocacy
    Poor reception to suggestions
    Poor training process
Management does not care about their employees
The licensing department is all over the place and implement poor practices to aid testers.

    Advice to Management

Follow through on commitments. Be your agents advocate. Help them to succeed. Be receptive to suggestions.

I worked at The Hartford full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility in hours (some staff) Remote options (some staff)
Job security, New Office, Great coworkers who make friends outside of the Office

    Cons

Many of the Claims Department positions will have you stressed out and miserable. I can only speak on my experience in the Workers Compensation division. Working on California claims will have you stressed to no end. You’re paid salary so there is no overtime, however you’ll need to dedicate at least 50 hours of week to the job. That’s on a good week. Typically you’ll need to work much longer including signing in at night and on weekends. You’re promised a workload that is bearable but you’ll learn quickly that you’ll always have way too much work to complete. Barely anyone makes their numbers on quality and somehow it’s always the employees fault that they’re under benchmark.

    Advice to Management

    Be upfront and truthful.
