I have been working at The Haskell Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not always micromanaged. Interesting company to work for.

    Cons

Horrible management in my department. While not a very bureaucratic company, there are tons of petty politics, power trips, and cliques. Very "fratty" mentality, and the people in the lower rungs are constantly disrespected.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they deserve. Run your departments competently. Respect your subordinates efforts and show praise when warranted.

I worked at The Haskell Company (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You will work alongside top-notch individuals. The staff at Haskell is elite and you will learn a great deal. It's a very cooperate environment (in a good way) with a fast pace (feels like you're working at big firm with tons of people around you hitting deadlines, etc.). Certainly not a boring place.

    Cons

At Haskell there is a considerable amount of Execs, VP's, and Directors that are not job costed. Therefore, a good amount of overhead is required to support these higher salaries. The result is that lower/middle tier employees don't get paid well. You will be working your tail off for much less. However, if you advance to a more senior level you will be paid very well.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay for the employees who design/manage the projects.

I have been working at The Haskell Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible with hours. Mostly good people.
Provided a lot of latitude to get the job done the best way you see fit.

    Cons

Disconnect with OCE and actual operations.
ESOP returns and worse than market and riskier in long run.
OCE funds their bonus when there are bad years which hurts ESOP and takes money out of the pockets of average employees.
    Corporate Activism.
    Very poor communication.
A lot of layoffs (there is no such thing as "Haskell Family"

    Advice to Management

Need to put people before profits. Be real leaders, sacrifice your compensation to help average employees. Pay better!

    - Employees from other offices will share their work and seek other's expertise - team mentality

    - opportunity to grow and create your own path to the top

    Cons

    - work load fluctuates dramatically

    Pros

Haskell makes sure their employees are taken care of. Great benefits. Haskell is continuously growing making room for growth.

    Cons

Downside of working for the Haskell company is that the pay is not that great. You will take on more job duties without higher pay.

I have been working at The Haskell Company full-time

    Pros

Balanced work life, flexible travel, fun projects. There is visibility to upper management, and everyone is approachable. Engineering Managers are focused on personal development as they are successful projects. Plenty of PTO (starts at 17 days for full time).

    Cons

Sometimes, it's not totally clear what's needed to be successful. Experience is needed to move up. No matching 401k, ESOP instead.

    Advice to Management

Matching 401k would be a huge benefit. Continue including employees from all parts of the organization to remain engaged.
