I worked at The Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice environment to work. Most of th staff really cares about the residents.
The rehab floor is well staffed and have enough RNs to cover the units.

    Cons

Resigned four days into orientation. They wanted me to take care of 46 residents on RP2 by myself- a supervisor had the nerve to tell me 1 RN to 46 residents is safe and I shouldn't even be complaining. I worked as an LPN for 7 years before becoming RN and never had to ake care of more than forty residents. Personally, I feel the state should look into that.
Not enough staff to cover the memory floors. 4 Cna's to 46 residents on the evening tour is a disservice to those paying for quality life.

    Advice to Management

Management is cut off from mid level, and lower-level staff. They don't really care other than getting the job done.
For a nice place like Hebrew home, they should have adequate staff to cover all the various units.

Flexible work schedule if necessary. Good benefits and compensation package. Can learn and grow within your position. Employees a pleasure to work with.

Staff feel management can be unapproachable. Communication is key.
