I worked at The Hershey Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Zero supervision. You can look for a real sales job while getting paid to do nothing.

    Cons

The Hershey Company preys on the naivete of young college graduates by promising them a "sales" job for a well known brand name. Understand this, your "sales" job will consist of working like a slave in Walmart for 50+ hours per week doing the job of three or more Walmart employees. You will stock shelves. Yes, you will spend the time and resources to get a college education and then stock shelves at Walmart. The "sales"...

    Advice to Management

Cut the political garbage. Stop giving bonuses to managers for promoting people. Tell these naive college kids what they're actually signing up for. Google "The Peter Principle" and WAKE UP. Good luck keeping up with the 21st century.

I have been working at The Hershey Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Company car - Flexible schedule - Autonomy that you will not get at other entry level jobs - They will help you grow whether you want to move up within the company or not, overall good experience especially right out of school if you can block out that your bachelors degree is being put to use stocking shelves in Walmart sometimes...No different from brainless work at other entry level jobs but can feel demeaning...

    Cons

    - You have to relocate to move up (and likely relocate to start as well) - Really a glorified merchandiser role at some points - Lonely and polarizing

    Advice to Management

    - Most of your reps are living in apartment complexes with tight quarters. Send the pos to stores. - Try harder to keep reps in territories closer to their home (will help a lot with turnover)

I worked at The Hershey Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is Free candy available at all locations

    Cons

I left my former company because the pay here was higher and they assured me there was no cap on education benefits. I quit my job and relocated across 3 states in October only to receive an email in December that education benefits had been reduced to $6500 a year. That won’t even pay 10% of the cost of an MBA. If i had known this before i would not have quit my former job as there was no cap. There are also Discrimination...

I worked at The Hershey Company for more than a year

    Pros

-Fast promotion opportunity if you're able to show your worth. -Transparent access to company executives -Great benefits -Company that is dedicated to building leaders

    Cons

-The RSR position is hard to quantify how successful you are doing, and you may not feel compensated for your efforts compared to other team members that are not putting in the same effort. -If you're a perfect employee and continually get promoted you will have to move to a different location in the company every 2-4 years. Some people really enjoy this, but personally for me it didn't fit what I wanted long term.

    Advice to Management

Continue to care about your employees. Great company, if I could have got promoted and stayed in the same city I started I would still be with the company. However, I think being a fortune 500 company with customers all over the world Hershey's has to have a team of people willing to transport themselves constantly. It just didn't fit my personal long term goals.

I worked at The Hershey Company full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent benefits: 401k, Health insurance, Wellness program, Free Candy :)

    Cons

    * Bureacratic * Limited promotions after certain points * HR is very limited in International business and GMs ran the show at their own rules. * Developed individuals are dismissed if they don't behave as Yes man.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your International resources. Don't let good talent to escape after all the HR investments behind them.
