I have been working at The Hillman Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible with leaving early and coming in late as long as the job gets done. Can work from home if you have sick kids you need to be with.

    Cons

Short staffed and management styles. Need to be more open to working from home a couple days a week instead of an as needed benefit.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the knowledge of longer tenure employees and pay them what you are paying them the market rate before the leave.

The way their benefits are setup for new hire employees.

I have been working at The Hillman Group part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great products and high quality.

    Cons

Out of touch with accounts. Reps show no interest to interact with account management to hear concerns and or complaints. If you are looking to be a part of a team, you won't find it here.

    Advice to Management

Corp needs to do their own fact finding to get a real picture of what's going on. In a given 10 day period visually inspect inventory, what exactly is up-stocked, needed, ordered, received and when it is actually packed out. This is so easy to achieve by simply having pictures taken and sent over by mobile device. They need to have more oversight to the reality of how each account and location is being interacted with.

I worked at The Hillman Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of anything good

    Cons

Management was terrible, organization was not a strong suit, very very rude co workers, mandatory overtime? I understand wanting to work overtime, but if all I wanna do is put my 40 in and go home then let me do that, don't force me to do that crap.

    Advice to Management

Work on employee to manager relationships. Listen to what employees have to say.

I have been working at The Hillman Group full-time

    Pros

Personal and vacation days are a plus

    Cons

Horrible pay. Work you harder than what you get paid for. No communication at all. Would rather spend money on other things instead of treating the employees the way they deserve.

    Advice to Management

    PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES.

I worked at The Hillman Group (More than a year)

    Pros

You get PTO, vacation pay Monday through Friday. And overtime if you want.

    Cons

They hire anyone off the street. Guilt trip you into working overtime. Say you will make good money but get a 10 cent raise every year if you work your butt off.

    Advice to Management

Pay the good people more! Stop taking on new business if you can't handle what you have now! Also need a bigger warehouse; not some jankyt warehouse off the books.

    Pros

Pros most of the people are friendly, the supervisor is awesome. You can get bonuses if you work fast.

    Cons

Lots of cons you have to make good numbers to keep your job. A lot of cheaters. Some get away with a lot of things. To many people are lazy and don't clean after themself. I love the job its just im tired of the lack of team work.

    Advice to Management

Get workers who play as a team. The ones who make their numbers 90 percent of them Cheat. Some are great workers watch and you will be able to tell who works and who doesn't.

I have been working at The Hillman Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Autonomy in day to day operations. Flexibility of schedule. Monday - Friday, with no weekends.

    Cons

Many more cons today than when I started the job many years ago. Poor wages, benefits on the decline, and a negative reinforcement management strategy are all things that are getting worse by the year.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people better from top to bottom. Get the investors out of the employees pockets. Use positive reinforcement management techniques as apposed to the opposite.
