I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great salary and benefits. Opportunity to experience corporate BS first hand. Made me a stronger person.

    Cons

The leadership took really talented people and squashed all the creativity and spirit out of them by micromanaging and lack of empowerment. They treated people as interchangeable productivity resources rather than individuals. It made for mediocre project outcomes and low morale.

I have been working at The Home Depot

    Pros

Home Depot has an ever-shifting culture and the pendulum has largely swung toward customer and associate value. The people are great. There is a wealth of interesting projects, ideas, technologies.

    Cons

There remains a complete break in communication between upper and middle management, teams consistently work toward artificial dates and are governed by weak leaders. Work-life balance does not exist, there is minimal recognition, and career advancement is driven almost solely by politics.
