Profit sharing, bbq and potluck. They take care of their people. Worked with my disability

    Cons

Sometime scheduling can be hard and you end up scrambling to get everything fixed.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing. I really like management

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    People are nice
Training for other departments (assuming you are not trying to become a designer)
Good starting point for other better paying jobs in the industry

    Cons

Bad pay at $11 a hour and falling behind lots of other retail giants like target quickly.
People don't want you to cross train even after training unless it is their department.
Everything is based on the time you join (success sharing, review, when you can move up etc.)
They constantly under schedule people in all departments.
Full time is hard to get and even if you get full time there is no guarantee you keep it in other departments.
Part time does not have a set schedule making it harder for them to do their other job or school if they do one of those (likely do if part time)
Only benefits you really take advantage of is ESPP, 401k and short and long term disability.
They force all employees to park in the back for customer satisfaction which makes it easier for stealing.

    Advice to Management

Start focusing on your employees more by paying better, schedule enough people and give more full time.

I worked at The Home Depot (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Make your own hours. Good entry level HR position for those interested although they refuse to call it HR and just call you an administrator.

    Cons

It's retail, very fast paced and pay is very low for the work required. Lots of complacent managers & employees

    Advice to Management

Stop chasing the metric! Take care of your people, they'll take care of the customer, the rest takes care of its self.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good training, good coworkers. Lots of opportunity for professional growth. Easy to get stats and apprehensions. Benefits are good

    Cons

Store managers have way to much say. Asset protection is to be independent of the store manager, not there personal errand boy

    Advice to Management

Take away the power from store managers

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good benefits, and as long as your store makes profit you get a bonus, but the bonus isn't much.

    Cons

District staff either micromanages stores to death, or lets management run amuck and misuse their employees.

    Advice to Management

Focus on who you have in the building and not the person who may fill their space.
