I worked at The Home Depot as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, they realize you're an intern and allow you to have a great work-life balance, the work week is capped at 40 hours, you got lots of face time with executives, you had analyst work (I never had to get anyone coffee), my project was applicable to the business and they still use it now that I'm gone

    Cons

None that I can think of

    Advice to Management

Great internship. Would recommend to anyone!

I worked at The Home Depot full-time

    Pros

Great people, smart and talented people. They take care of their people and run a tight ship. If you want to move up in this company. You gotta work hard and perform. They promote within and farm from their large talent pool. Great people in the stores.

    Cons

Micro management, lots of pressure to perform. Can’t change out your fixed accounts every quarter, like you used to. Can get stuck with sinking accounts, due to bankruptcy. Which makes it hard to hit your goal. Wish the pay was a little higher. They aren’t the cheapest, definitely not the highest paying company. It would be nice if we received a in store discount, like Lowe’s employees receive.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you’re doing. A lot of talented people in leadership. Each one is smart, skilled and truly enjoy their job. I trusted in the decisions they were making, even if I didn’t always agree with it.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful company to work for, great benefits (even for part time), they really take care of their employees.

    Cons

Nothing, I honestly cannot think of a single con to working here.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! Always listen to the employees under you, they are the frontlines of the store and have really good ideas on how to improve minor things.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Management supports transformation and have great resources. And to move from legacy systems to cloud native applications. Huge amount of data to process

    Cons

Fully dependent on outside contractors. Full time employees move from team to team constantly. Management seem to give all ownership to contractors

    Advice to Management

Grow talent organically. Hire good mentors who can shape and create innovative culture

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked at Home Depot for over 11 years. A very well run company. Some highlights:

    - Company is focused on the customer
    - Not afraid to be a leader, try new things
    - Believes in sharing success with employees
    - Opportunity to move up and try new things
    - Can do culture

    Cons

    Some cons:
    - This is a large company, that style is not for everyone. Lots of meetings, group decisions.
    - Can be demanding as far as work schedule, but was compensated commensurate with demands.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company culture and fun vibes
Managers put you on a team of current engineers to guide and mentor you
It's a good place to make friends
Pay is fair as an intern and even better full-time (If you're lucky, I'll be very happy when I start full-time as a 22-year-old with this salary in Atlanta)

    Cons

I'm not sure how effective or efficient paired programming is.
Sometimes goals and projects are open-ended and up to your interpretation

    Advice to Management

Give exact targets and goals, try matching interns to teams that have something to do with their concentrations or interests, and be more accessible if possible

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of great people to work with. Easy to move up if you want to get promoted

    Cons

When you move to manager or above you're expected to work whenever necessary. Most people in the position work minimum 50 hours week with about 15% increase in pay moving to a manager position

    Advice to Management

We are selling hammers. Not savings lives.
