I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Extreme programming shop.
Strong company culture focused on its employees and community.
Doing really cool things in supply chain, lots of opportunities to contribute to a bleeding edge technology solution.

    Cons

    Low salaries.
Raises low and applied across a competitive scale. There will be a winner and a loser.
To much focus on moving up the management chain.

    Advice to Management

Pay competitive salaries to your engineers.
Allow everyone on a team to succeed with raises.
Reward engineers for improving in place don’t force them to promote.
    Be more like a startup.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

People. Security. Innovative. Challenging. Fast pace. Face to face meeting type culture. Many different roles to grow and move around to different roles.

    Cons

Relationships are the main way to get things done, so it is difficult to get started when you are brand new. It is not impossible though.

    Advice to Management

    Better communication.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They take care of their associates. During the hurricane season they continued to pay associates in PR, VI and TX who were unable to work. When associates have u expected life events THD Is known to be very supportive

    Cons

It's difficult to get promoted no matter who awesome of an employee you are unless you spend more time networking more than actually being productive

    Advice to Management

Stop being biased and choosing employees based on who sucks up to you the most

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed most the people I worked with, but I hated everything else.

    Cons

Very Disorganized, promotions are based on popularity instead of merit. On my particular team, the culture was a bit sexist too.

    Advice to Management

Reword employees that work hard and understand the department instead of those that you like best on a personal level.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good health insurance options, matching 401K and company success bonus. At corporate level pay is not bad but below industry standards in many areas of the business which leads to a high turnover.

    Cons

I had 5 different managers in the 4 years I worked there. A couple were excellent, the others not so much. A lot of talk about work/life balance but long hours are expected.
