I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Hours for the schedule . Insurance I guess. Not much more to say. Does this get me to 20 words yet.

    Cons

Underpaid by a country mile. What else do you expect. Biggest con I can think of right now. 20 words.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible hours, works with students and single parents. Allows you to have sick days. Easy work environment and reasonable management.

    Cons

Pay is low, really low. Profit sharing is a joke, got a $150 check one quarter and none the next. The managers get thousands. Everyone below management feels dispensable.

    Advice to Management

Raise pay and share some of the profit sharing.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

it's a stable safe company to work for
it's not going out of business any time soon
    so-so stock options

    Cons

    pay is sub-par
    few to no perks
corporate meetings are more like high school pep rallies
much of IT is going to a jack of all trades master of none approach
did away with specific devops groups and now everyone on every team has to learn how to do everything on their own time while doing everything as well
no IT training opportunities which is worse when they suddenly expect everyone to be able to do all the jobs required for IT projects
forced paired programming without trying to match technical skills or at least technical aptitude

    Advice to Management

INVEST IN YOUR ASSOCIATES WITH REAL TRAINING
    and improve benefits
get over the whole "IT must wear pants" things
paired programming is not the cure all you think it is, blindly forcing it just hurts productivity and doesn't help in the long run

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Financially stable company, good company benefits(not pay), and flexible hours.

    Cons

The pay is low, morality is low, and leadership at the store level lacks sufficient training and support.

    Advice to Management

Create a positive environment for employees and customers at the store level by requiring workplace psychology courses for store level leadership.

    Pros

HD was very inclusive on all levels. You can come in knowing nothing because they will teach you about your department. Safety and customer service are top priorities.

    Cons

No employee discount for merchandise. The TV in the breakroom only gets the HD channel, so no football in the fall. You will get very dirty, so don't wear your best clothes. You will be on your feet the entire time you are on the floor.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Pay was decent ($10/hr in texas)
    - Nice work environment (not too serious)
    - Technically you could move up

    Cons

    - Benefits package seemed more focused on preempting health issues than covering them (though I was never injured myself)
    - You always need to be in customer service mode
    - Overnight crews keep messing with the equipment (taking first phones, etc)

    Advice to Management

Keep better track of who's doing what and listen to employee complaints when that arises.

I have been working at The Home Depot (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping people fix small repaires and getting to know regular customers.

    Cons

4 supervisors talked to me rudely many times and asked the same questions. Finally, I snapped and just walked away. One supervisor followed me yelling. I said its not wise follow me. I took off my dress shirt and I said hit me? After that they really hated me, ha ha. I was getting a write up at least once a week. Then I knew they had a sale going on one week and I clocked in ate in the break room. After eating I clocked out and I was department supervisor I bet they were livid. Live is to short to sugar coat things. It's a horrible company, you get no bonuses or incentives.

    Advice to Management

Fire the HR she is a rude and mean . If I recorded her you would not believe the things she said. I was a ignorant thug that wasted my life. I said I went to, pen state. I said I am a extremely intelligent felon.

I worked at The Home Depot (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are great, always willing to help.

    Cons

Lower level tech jobs are usually sourced by staffing companies, & from what I heard Insight pays more than Kforce.
The onsite Kforce manager only cares if you make him look good.
Pay isn't great, starting pay back in February of 2016 was $15 per hour.
Benefits were practically non existent, and the health insurance was not worth the cost.
No raises unless you get hired on by Home Depot directly, & you may get an additional $2 per hour.

    Advice to Management

Home Depot should hire directly, & cut out both Insight, and Kforce.
Home Depot should include their contractors in functions they put on instead of excluding them.
Provide more one on one help to those that need it instead of just moving people to different types of tech jobs in hopes that someone will do better.
