I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Child/elderly care discount rates, great manager, have the chance to go as far up in the company as you want.

    Cons

Must work weekends, no discount, can't work full time until a position opens up and your offered that job. The "health insurance" is with a crappy company, I don't mind paying less then $50 a check for it... But a doctor office Co pay being $50-$75 is very very high and heaven forbid you have to go to the ER. They only cover $200. They tend to hire anyone who can pass a background/drug check. 40% are high schoolers who call in 2x a week, no show or quit. ( Every store is about the same )

    Advice to Management

HC need to be trained a little better and taught THD way, not the way they think is right. Structure is needed badly. Put your employees 1st, they help you run the store.

I worked at The Home Depot (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits , tuition reimbursement, training and the co-workers are just a few good aspects I experienced while working for Home Depot.

    Cons

The only con was a lot of the employees were not dependable and would not show up for their shift making in hard to ever get off on time.

    Advice to Management

Maybe the staffing/recruitment process needs to be evaluated.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I am a part time associate. The other associates I work with are the best. If I need help with finding something in the store or pulling merchandise from the bays, I can always get someone else's help. Home Depot also provides part-timers a few benefits that other businesses don't provide part-timers. The working atmosphere is great, and I love helping our customers find things they need or helping with advice when they ask.

    Cons

I work in the tools and hardware area and am on my feet for 4-6 hours at at time. Good shoes are needed. The floors in the building are hard and unforgiving. I wish they could look at floors that aren't so hard.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I would say the biggest Pro about working here is the the extra benefits like Success Sharing and meeting some great people both employees and customers.

    Cons

I feel that the biggest Con is that management does not back the employees when you have an ugly irate customer. It's almost as if they encourage the bad behavior.
I also feel that there is far too much favoritism when it comes to things like promotions and making people full time. I have seen so many lazy butt kissers get full time, while the hard working ones get left behind and struggle.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be......recognize all employees that deserve to be recognized for. Don't play favoritism. Look at each individual and their work ethic to promote not whether you like them or not.
And please, please get all management on the same page. We have some that are not even in the same chapter let alone the same book!
