I have been working at The Home Depot part-time

    Pros

Absolutely love talking to my customers about their projects. All my coworkers are great and the head cashiers always push me to do my best every day.

    Cons

Pressured to sell a lot of credit cards to meet a quota, but you get rewarded for however many you did in a week.

They also didn't give me a tour of the store. They gave me an orientation packed to fill out within 30 days and since I'm always needed at the register, I havent had the chance to fill it out completely.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for being there for me whenever I had questions or felt unsure about something. I really would like a tour of the store by the store manager, since other enployees have had that experience before I came.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You are enabled to meet many different walks if life in the stores and learn thousands of applications in a do it yourself environment. Fellow associates in time become like a close knit but disfuncrional family. (good kind).

    Cons

Management will lead you on regarding vertical movement. If you are not part of the "Click" the ASM's will manipulate the performance management process and after they have been made to look good NY your efforts to shine in your respective department, they will systematically sabotage your position by moving key associates out of your department so it becomes a recovery disaster thus in stock position suffers and it looks like the department head has or is not preforming to expectations and is papered out the door with bogus write-ups.

    Advice to Management

Store managers need to keep a healthy separation between themselves and the ASM in order to maintain objectivity regarding performance management on Associates and Department Heads that truly bust their humps and go over and above to make a positive impact within their store and position field of influence.
Upper management from the DM and up needs to do the same on order not to lose key assets that were worth developing and instead lost due to clickish manipulation of a dedicated and hard working employee.
