I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere! Home-Depot provides excellent benefits and stock holder shares. Management engages in the employees needs and go over the top to make the work place peaceful and enjoyable. The hours are great and you can usually work over-time when needed. They provide assistance to any employee who is struggling financially.

    Cons

It take a long time to move into a management position.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Being my first job setting, working here has built my social skills and I now feel comfortable talking to nearly anyone. The hours are convenient- 6am -2:30 pm monday-friday. MET- MEA Merchandising Execution Associate has allowed me this consistent schedule.

    Cons

There is far too much pressure to maintain numerical quotas, on MET team. Not everyone on this team is trained to do all aspects of the job. A select 1/2 will do projects on a regular basis, 1/2 price changes etc. I find that a big flaw in the system. The minimum wage pay which barely grows. I work the minimum wage here and those who have been here for 4 years just reached 12. Those are a hard workers aren't treated well enough. With the low pay people won't stay.

    Advice to Management

Please change the rate of pay. Please begin to treat your associates in the ways you want to be treated.
    Thank you.

    Cons

Occasionally you see and must deal with people who are just MEAN, customers.

    Advice to Management

Be open to talking with your employees and take suggestions.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mostly very pleasant customers and good coworkers. Flexible scheduling for part-time.

    Cons

Corporation bases daily staffing on sales from one year ago that date- not realistic as it leads to poor coverage of departments (if sales low that day last year) on very busy days and results in unhappy customers. Minimal chances of advancement within company. Wages are low for the amount of work the associates perform; no financial incentive to work towards fork lift and machine licenses despite the responsibilities they require.

    Advice to Management

Please come out of the office once in a while- get to know us as people and as hard workers. The words "thank you" sometimes mean more to us than you might know. It would be nice to hear them more often.

    Pros

The people. Low key no hard sell from management. Everyone is willing to help you. Good training. Made food for us on holidays

    Cons

New manager is a mess, never seen on sales floor. Has a few favorites, didn't seem to talk to anyone else. His in her office most of the time

    Advice to Management

Get a new manager. Talk to the employees they are good people that want the store to succeed. Moral is tanking

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Home Depot was a pleasure to work for. They offer substantial training, more than enough to understand your role and responsibility. The Management was fair and pleasant. Very good at offering feedback, both good and areas of need.

    Cons

Co-worker drama, there was plenty of it. I saw so-workers hiding, taking extended breaks, complain about the job and Managers. You name it.

    Advice to Management

I understand that help is hard to find and good help is even harder That being said, the tolerance that is shown for lazy workers is very hard to stomach when you put it an honest days work and see lazy co-workers make the same pay and do little to nothing and get away with it. It is deflating at best. I was a seasonal worker so my HD career was short term but I enjoyed it all the same and would do it again in a minute.
