I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people - always been fortunate to work with nice people.

    Cons

Micro Management. Some managers treat you like your a 5 year old. I manage a large custom wood working facility in my day job and it amazes me how some managers have no clue how to manage people.

    Advice to Management

I've worked at the Home Depot for over 4 years and get paid less than $12 hourly part time. Each year in my review I bring up that I do not receive any additional compensation for being licensed to use all the machines in the Home Depot. I work with people that are paid several dollars an hour more than me and they can't operate a water tap! It's a huge responsibility when moving through a store full of distracted shoppers. They don't care. I was just told by management that to get a bigger pay increase I need to sign up credit card customers and sales leads - even though they just told me that I'm one of the safest and most responsible drivers in the store and that some others are terrifying. Many times I'm the only person in the store that can work certain machines. I've decided that I'm not renewing my machine certifications. If there are no operators in the store - too bad - I'll be busy focusing on what's important - credit card sign ups.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall The company did not care about their employees; only sales, credit cards and the customers.

    Cons

Good pay and a lot of hours

    Advice to Management

More flexible and constructed schedule because people do have a life outside of your company such as school, another job, family, and be more open to employees concerns.
