I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They care about the employees and genuinely want you to succeed. I worked at two different stores and loved my experience with this company. I often tell people that I would still be there had I not moved to a place that doesn't have a store close enough to commute. I started as a cashier and was moved into the paint department. My coworkers were amazing and my managers went out of their way to help me any way they could. You could tell that they really cared about you. There are many benefits including bonuses, free lunches and holiday parties.

    Cons

There aren't any in my experience

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly workplace, interesting benefits, flexible hours, single parent home/college student friendly

    Cons

Hard to advance, lack of support/coverage

    Advice to Management

Listen to the workers better, losing good employees because they are not being heard and people who don't do their job are being rewarded.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the staff is very friendly and most of the stores are always clean. Training is provided and if you feel that you need more training in a certain area it is available if you ask.

    Cons

More training for supervisor level employees regarding FMLA practices and knowing when an employee may be elegable to recieve these benefits.

    Advice to Management

Please be more compassionate to staff that may be having personal issues. When I worked for this company I was trying to care for my terminally ill grandfather along with my chidlren. I became homeless and my car broke down, because of these circumstances I was not able to make it to work a few times and was terminated because of this. At the time I did not know I would be eligable for FMLA or any other leave of absense from the company. If a manager would have told me about this I would have been able to apply for the leave and I may still be an employee of Home Depot.

    Pros

They are a very nice company to work for. They genuinely care about their employees and offer a lot of perks and opportunity for advancement. I would have worked there my whole life.

    Cons

The pay could be a little higher. There really isn't anything bad to say.

    Advice to Management

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

there were completely no pros to the job at all and no recognition to their employees at all.

    Cons

everything from the workers to the managers are a complete joke the salary workers can clock in at whatever time they deem fit.

    Advice to Management

the people you put in charge to keep all of your sale associates in align should be adequate and under surveillance especially your salaried workers.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are absolutely no benefits to working at Home Depot unless you like working for minimum wage with measly $0.25 annual raises.

    Cons

Employees are paid minimum wage with twenty five cent annual raise. Home Depot needs to pay their employees more than minimum wage and provide more than twenty five cent annual raises. Management in incompetent at all levels. Training is horrible and doesn't prepare employees for customer service. Customers expect more knowledge from employees. Home Depot doesn't prepare employees to answer customer product questions. I've been with Home Depot for four years and I barely make more than minimum wage. It's absolutely a shame that the only decent raise I'm getting is from the state (minimum wage increased to $12.50 in state I work in). Home Depot needs to reward their employees with more than minimum wage and a measly $0.25 annual raise. Also, Home Depot does not reward employees for learning more departments or getting a forklift or reach truck license. There are no incentives for learning different departments.

    Advice to Management

Advise to corporate: Pay your employees a decent wage and give them more than a measly $0.25 annual raise.
