I have been working at The Home Depot (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The corporate values are excellent. The potential for any minority is unlimited. The wheel of values is a perfect guideline for any business.

    Cons

Though the base values are good the individual store leadership can be terrible there seem to be no checks or balances for that. There is an associates counseling group to protect associates. My experience is its an inquisition with decisions pre-determined. Most store advancement very politically and buddy based.

    Advice to Management

Talk to random employees with anonymity and get the true feed back. Just a paper metric can be easily manipulated.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly associates
Customers are generally friendly and happy
Store Management was friendly and did their jobs well

    Cons

I wish I made more than $10 dollars an hour as a Garden Sales Associate
Other associates don't always pick up the slack

    Advice to Management

Management and department heads need to recognize when their employees have gone above and beyond. They should provide associates with verbal congratulations and support.
