I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Very flexible schedule.
Lots to learn and grow.
Normal retail store sales matter above all else for most managers.
Advice to Management
Be more humane and treat people with dignity.

No Pros here. Lots of empty promises. Management that lies and other
managers that back up their lies, all the way up to the top. When they get confronted on their lies or caught in their web of lies, they deny ever having said that. Even better yet, they lie some more, to cover up the lies. Lots of tall tales told during the hiring process, that they never make good on.
Lies that they say to get you where they want you. The best one is...We are going to start you in this department; if you find you don't like it " We will move you!" If you're miserable there, your stuck there. Another good one, If you mis-punch by accident; you won't get paid and if you do a time correction, They write you up saying, you were paper punching because you were late and by doing this you are violating Home Depot Policy, then they fire you. Don't plan on getting paid what you are legally owed by law. Don't interview for a full time position if you're part time, they come up with every excuse in the book, for why you didn't pass the interview for the position. The don't want 1 good full time employee; they want many young part time employees that don't know enough to question anything. Please take all of what I am saying, if you're thinking about working there. I am telling the truth. I am not saying this because I am bitter. I'm elated, not to be there anymore. Good luck, on your job hunt,
Advice to Management
Learn about constitutional and civil and
human rights! You are violating all of them. See you in court!
My fellow associates at the workplace make this job worth going to. Almost anyone can get hired here, making it an excellent opportunity if you're between more ideal jobs, or just need to get on your feet. You learn a lot about various aspects of home hardware and improvement. Heavy machinery training is a plus.
Morale can be difficult to maintain, between sometimes demanding customers and disgruntled employees. Unless you plan at being at THD for more than 5 years do not expect to be promoted into positions that pay above minimum wage.
