I worked at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pros would definitely be the ability to help customers find exactly what they need.

    Cons

Conn's would most certainly be select managers of the stores.

    Advice to Management

    Do not micromanage.

I worked at The Home Depot (More than a year)

    Pros

friendly coworkers, clean, good environment, decent benefits, usually had food in the breakroom, fun employee events, friendly higher ups - like a family almost.

    Cons

not enough hours, difficult to get full-time from part-time positions, decent pay- but in combination with hours its very little. Difficult to get the awards they offer, Not great at actual recognition.

    Advice to Management

Offer more hours, and don't be so stingy with promotion to full time. Recognize good employees more.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My co-workers were very supportive. The managers were willing and able to help out with whatever scenario came up. The salary was higher than minimum wage. The company has a strong sense of identity and fosters a familial feeling between coworkers.

    Cons

The computer system/algorithm in charge of scheduling worker hours sometimes gets it wrong, resulting in too few cashiers or lot associates at times to handle large amounts of customers. This can overburden employees that were scheduled.

    Advice to Management

Keep being supportive of the employees on your teams!

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very lenient on scheduling if you have an outside life, great people to work with (for the most part) and overall very educational.

    Cons

Mostly just customers that swear they work at home depot and know more than us, I deal with that stupidity all the time and it gets irritating.

    Advice to Management

Nothing really, my managers are great.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours for working students. You're entitled with the ability to offer a very generous discount to keep a customer happy. Like most retail they will expect you to push credit but they were very lenient and won't write you up if you don't meet goals. Fun company parties and employee appreciation (catered lunches or breakfasts, raffles with prizes including tvs, xbox ones, spa certificates, gift cards, etc)

    Cons

Few full time positions (if any) were offered. With the exception of Garden and the interior design desk, MALE employees are MUCH more frequently seen than females in departments and management positions. Female employees are usually always cashiers and returns or service desk. Female employees rarely get promoted or encouraged to apply for department positions.

    Advice to Management

Encourage and consider qualified female employees just as much as the male employees for department and management opportunities.
