I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Positive environment, almost all are good people and nice environment.

    Cons

Supervision way too thin with hiring focusing on PT at very low wage and little ongoing training. You will find yourself doing much more than they tell you like unloading trucks since there are not enough people to do it.

    Advice to Management

Consider sales assistants to handle computers and more skilled sales people that can spend time motivating customers.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Amazing associates with programs such as The Homer Fund that assist associates in need through hard/difficult times. Advance at your pace.

    Cons

Upper management sets unrealistic expectations. Performance management programs are not adhered to and lack of accountability to ensure transparent efficiency.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond first impressions. People can be developed into solid leaders. However, without the interpersonal skills and transparent communication no buy in will occur.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good benefits and that's it.

    Cons

Everything from pay, daily routines, management, theft is ridiculous. Thieves take whatever they want and wave to you on the way out. As an Asset Protection Specialist your not allowed to stop them and they usually play the race card after they steal something to try and get you fired so it will be easier for them next time. The policies that Home Depot have are catered to theft. Everything is insured, with that being...

    Advice to Management

I've got nothing because they don't care about anything but their own career.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Friendly co-workers. Most are there to help.

    Cons

Terrible management - reactive not proactive. Believe you are just a number & ask way too much from Associates for the money they pay. If you are not part of the 'boys network' you will not be promoted.

    Advice to Management

Start paying Associates more & get rid of the non-performing Associates. Make them accountable for their performance. If you ca't then quit.

    Pros

    Cons

Lots of micro-managing. Every department manager wants to play boss, no matter the department. Understaffed at busy times.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro-managing. Fully staff the department. That's my complaint.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Close to home to be able to afford gas

    Cons

Wages are not competitive at all, starting salary has been a flat 10 dollars an hour for well over 5 years! What they gave us for the corporate tax cut was an insult. Most other companies increased the hourly salary by 1 dollar. You are using the bulk of the tax cut to LOAD up on merchandise! We can see through your smoke screen!

    Advice to Management

The associates are the face of the company to the customers, they deserve more. Quit understaffing you can not provide great customer service if you are understaffed almost of the time.
