I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is like working with family. Everyone respects each other. Very fast paced. Is a very challenging place to work. HD lives by the value wheel

    Cons

High expectations to always be perfect (or close to it) can be difficult to sustain. B7t there are always people to help you out. You just have to ask.

    Advice to Management

When new higher ups come in make sure they understand the company and rules before they start setting guidelinez

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Our customers, learning and for the most part some really hard working people.
Some of the associate discounts are good.

    Cons

No consistency or communication from upper management (Manager, ASM’s). We understand that each person works differently, but get on the same page with each other. It is confusing when we are told several different ways to do something.
    Pay is horrible.

    Advice to Management

The favoritism has to Stop! The SOP is in place for a reason. Do not makeup your own rules for certain people. Manage by our values.
We work hard for our shareholder check, to place 1st or second. We do not need to know that you get a hefty bonus no matter what, when we don’t make the top spots.
Lead by example and stop telling half truths, we are smart people.
Very disappointed because We thought we had, in place, some very good values, but now We beginning to think we are only numbers.
    Very Sad

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

THD spends a ton training Designers insuring practice consistencies. Good benefits.

    Cons

Confusing ERP systems. Low pay causing too many really good people to leave for better paying positions.

    Advice to Management

Provide a big picture flow chart of ERP system so tactical rules for interacting with suppliers can be learned at the beginning. We're killing it on quarterly profits. Please increase pay for low paid Specialty Associates that have such an impact on big ticket sales.

    Cons

Corporate changes don't seem well thought out. Consequences or issues aren't taken into consideration. Recently, decisions seem to be last minute.

    Pros

Good potential money with little sales background needed

    Cons

    hours are nights and weekends

    Advice to Management

Your onboarding is terrible. Yuo tell new hires they can make $70K, and they can, but then you pay them $300 starting weekly in training.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally there is a good community of people working the floor with you. You can laugh and joke and it's generally fun.

    Cons

Upper management doesn't care and it becomes very stressful when you are trapped in your department alone with several customers waiting for you.

    Advice to Management

Hire more associates for all departments, I shouldn't be forced to deal with a quota and run 3 departments at once.
