    Pros

The company is growing and it is exciting to be a part of that growth. Lots of opportunities for advancement if you work hard.

It’s retail. Hours vary and so do days off. Only two holidays that are guaranteed off...Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Advice to Management

Better pay for hourly associates, especially Department Supervisors.

    Pros

Freedom to make some decisions even at a lower tier positions, great part-time benefits, flexible hours

I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Very friendly environment (depending on which store), many opportunities to learn about products, acquire new skills, and good for a beginner resume. Learn how to use tools/equipment in the store. Good breaks (IF you have proper coverage...). Mainly, its a good place...

      Cons

*In my experience* the harder you work, the more opportunities you get BUT the thinner you are stretched and you may feel very taken advantage of like I did. I did what was asked of me and more once management and other workers realized that, I didn't have much breathing space, skipped many breaks and didn't have much of a chance to wind down. I definitely think the more experience you have and the more training/qualifications...

      Advice to Management

Keep on top of things, treat ALL employees with respect. Help them out, my manager at W Broad in Columbus, Ohio was great. The manager in my current location, quite the opposite. Learn to communicate properly with your workers and make sure things are kept up with. Most people there seem to be good, hardworking and caring people. Treat them how they deserve to be treated, please and thank you.
