People business, headed towards right direction as a company

    Cons

Long hours, especially during peak season, understandably

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing towards the right direction

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Scheduling is generous, so long as you plan ahead
    -Friendly staff and management
-Bi-annual bonuses for every employee, along with extra bonuses for yearly performance or other achievements
    -Great for first-time workers

    Cons

    -Often short staffed
-Pay is small for living wage
-Hard to get customer recognition for sales jobs (Service Desk, Cashiers)
-Typical retail problems (irate/unreasonable customers, sudden rushes or dead moments)

    Advice to Management

Consider putting more associates on the floor at any given time, and make it easier for workers to feel motivated and appreciated

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits for someone needing a good start in the work field. Somebody that's young or senior. Stock options for full time employees.

    Cons

Pay not as good say 10 years ago.

    Advice to Management

    Bump up pay for employees.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefit programs, clear line of progression, customer-focused atmosphere. Management is typically well-structured and know what they're doing. Semi-annual bonuses for all employees depending on region.

    Cons

Pay could be slightly more competitive, and positions in certain departments are definitely more difficult/physical than others. 90% of retail job training is done on a computer, and could be improved via additional human input to ensure that newer employees are properly trained to answer customers' questions.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

MET team job is awesome if you are detailed oriented and truly care about product appearance. I worked along some great team members, but one by one they left to "pay their bills" elsewhere, as I did.

    Cons

PAY .... no one can survive making $10/hr. without working an job 25+ hrs.
Culture has changed for the worse - appears to have adopted "WALMART" business model and mentality - at one time it was a great company to work for, but those days are long gone. **I was told MET pays $11/ hr now --- good direction BUT still can not pay rent / bills on that houly pay w/o another job.
BENEFITS - cannot afford them after the 90 days waiting period. Who could @ $10-11/hr ??
HIRING PROCESS - by computer apply, computer email, and store call to set appointment. ***DO NOT SELECT MORE THAN ONE JOB< ONE LOCATION - my experience has been horrendous ... "the system" locks you into one job and one store location once you interview and you NOT free to interview for any other position / store UNTIL that store "releases" you to do so - and the store can be very "forgetful" about that.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees ..... or lose them one by one

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    bonus every 6 months
    making some good friends

    Cons

BAD Management, only care about them selves
Calls you on your day off to come in ALL the time
    No discounts

    Advice to Management

Get actual good managers who care about the workers and will fight for them instead of just firing them for NO reason what so ever. There is this one manager who only cares about making herself looking good no matter the cost so she can get her own store. Changing/Firing managers every 6 months is bad for the employers and the store .

    Pros

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Listen to your associates, and make better time for them instead of pushing them to the side

    Pros

    success sharing

    Cons

    working in a skeleton crew

    Advice to Management

kick abusive customers out of store, not fond of working anywhere a customer can threaten bodily harm over a return
