I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A growing company that embraces omnichannel while making a positive store experience for associates and customers. A good place to develop a career and move forward.

    Cons

There aren't many cons. The concern most often raised is about the flexible schedule which is a reality in retail and not something that is changeable.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest management keep upholding the core values of the company. They will only lead to greatness in the future.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

diverse environment, quality health insurance, stocks and 401k available, an amazing company for any young professional, the company truly cares about the employees

    Cons

not a great place for seasoned professionals looking for a supervisory position

    Advice to Management

I've seen to many associates over the age of 40 passed over for promotion despite clearly having more experience and a better understanding of the business. Many young assistant store managers like to focus on which lift equipment an associate can drive and their willingness to follow them around to qualify them for a supervisor position.

You also have to many ASMs who were "ON THE FAST TRACK" . These leaders don't know their way around the store. This is because when they were there "IT WAS JUST A STEPPING STONE". I worry about the company's long term future when I hear those two phrases in the store.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

With such a large staff you are bound to make a few great friends

    Cons

This company use to be a great place to work at, but unfortunately some cancerous people tend to move up in this company. The pay is also below avarage now, it's sad when Walmart starts new hires at a higher hourly wage then home depot does.

    Advice to Management

Start living the values you preach about and district management needs to take a closer look at how the upper management treats its hourly associates.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Associates, Most Of Peers were Great

    Cons

Lies, misdirection and SM and Many in HR sprouting Company Values but not practicing what they preach. Those that said they care and not given a bit about anyone they supposedly “work for” (bottom, down perimad company structure.)
Manager gives a lot of work, knows that DS that excell have to work off the clock to accomplish all of it. So violating labor laws.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying and just tell DS they are like any other businesses. Profit before everything and anyone. If you get promoted to manager the structure of support isn’t great. Burn out risk high, and quality of work life is low. Especially in Manhattan.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Challenging interesting work. Dept supervisors really run their own little businesses within the store. Customer interaction is better then in an any other retail setting.

    Cons

Pay scale. 2+ years as a specialty supervisor with depts that make 5 million + year and I make less then $15.00 an hour.

    Advice to Management

dial into the pay scale for middle management(dept. supervisors). We should be making a little more for the responsibility we undertake.

    Pros

Living the Home Depot values is a a real thing. When you live it you enjoy your job or career. Homer fund is there for associates in need.

    Cons

Nothing. There is consecutive scheduling, but I like the option of having open availability so you can move your schedule according to plans or need

    Pros

Pay, flexible hours and great benefits

    Cons

Very little support from upper management. High level of associate turnover. Typical shift you work alone with little support

    Advice to Management

Focus on floor level associate support. Listen and react to associates concerns and needs
