I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Management and sales associates are like family. never worked in a place with so many employees that treat each other so friendly and with respect.

part time associates get benefits, vacation, and sick time.
profit sharing checks are given out at a bowling ally with dinner and bowling paid for by company and you are on the clock.

how can this get any better?

    Cons

    could use some more money.

    Advice to Management

    DOING A GREAT JOB!

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and fun to work the sales floor and decent pay. Fun job all in all though.

    Cons

They have a total circle-jerk for obtaining full time. We are so understaffed and STILL no full time!? Im giving 4 stars for the ups cuz the new store manager started yesterday (monday) and haven't met ops yet.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the floor folk. One cant be in three departments every couple weeks if not understaffed.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, atmosphere is fast and hard work is there for those that want it. Plenty there that get by with bare minimum.

    Cons

Pay low and getting advancements doesn't change that. If direct boss having a bad day he/she makes yours bad by virtue of stink rolls downhill.

    Advice to Management

Allow your uppers to ride you and stand up for your people. New district managers that harp on successful stores please learn now to fix what isnt broke.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good environment, works with your schedule, room for growth in the company

    Cons

Management is sometimes not as present as they should be

    Advice to Management

HR more responsive to employees, promote from within, the better managers I have worked under are ones that worked their way up from the floor

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can't think of any other than look to others like Costco and copy them.

    Cons

Schedules and just about everything else is done by a computer software in Atlanta home office. Local mangers have little say or control over store. No employee discount adds to poor morale. Need better training.

    Advice to Management

Give authority to local managers, do some advertising, get competitive with local marketing against Menards and Lowes, give a 5% discount for using HD credit card.

    Cons

Training by videos is poor and boring with no real world examples.
