Pros
I worked at Home Depot as a Front End Cashier in the summer of 2014, and it was my first job. It was a great place to learn because the staff is really friendly and they are patient in helping you learn the ropes.
Cons
Occasionally, I would request days off on the system, more than 3 weeks in advance, and it would not get approved. This led to many scheduling conflicts for me.
Advice to Management
Maybe make it easier for employees to take a day off or change their shift if they have given proper notice time.

Odd shifts Frome time management system, pt have pick of shifts, full time is any time. Lots of closing shifts then opening shifts. No consistency in shifts.
Advice to Management
Computers can analyze and make shifts but humans don't work like that.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
You own your development. Suck up culture if you want to be promoted. You outgrow your value. Good for a starter job.
Cons
Managers who know nothing about leadership run the dept. Disheartening! Number and profit oriented & focused. You wish you wouldn't have to baby sit them.
Advice to Management
Remember that, the best companies have the best people. You throw a chunk of meat to attract lions. Throw peanuts you get monkeys! The "yes men" continue dragging the organization down. Your wages are not fair for the work you expect done.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
Tuition reimbursement Some dental and vision coverage Active work Decent respect for you as a person Somewhat flexible schedule
Cons
Management is a mixed bag - not always competent, and managers often swap positions or move stores Hours aren't always available There isn't always enough staff during busy periods Computer training isn't very useful
Advice to Management
Listen to employees that have been there for a while and trust they know what they're doing, especially if you are new to a section.
