    Cons

Management don't care about the cashiers all they care about is the making themselves look good. They dont do anything but walk around all day and complain. A manager told me to sweep the floor like a janitor once when the store was slow.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - flexible schedule (depending on your department head. Some care about your clock-in time and some don't care as long as you work hard.
    - Sick paid hour
    - paid vacation

    Cons

    - staffing by department: some departments have 5-7 associates at the same time while other departments have 1 associate and they spect both department to have done the same. if you're alone in your department and you haven't done much due to customers then management will complain to you about it.
    - managers will expect you to do anything for them and they will tell you straight up that
    - managers have no communication between each other. one person wil tell you do something then the other will tell you no, do something else
    - Managers don't care about customers: some managers will tell you to stop helping a customer just so you can do what they told you to do
    - Christmas party gifts its rigged. they give tickets to everyone during the party but then want people to pick it up the days before. how they do it? the manager hides behind a door with all the gifts with him and gives you a present which doesn't even say the number. you can't even look because that door is closed at all times even while you talking to them about your gift.
(one thing I've noticed is that even supervisors don't like this job because they expect you to come in any time any day if someone in your department called off. One time it was just a coworker and I in our department. we were taking an order out for a customer then the manager comes and als what are we doing while looking at us. she walks away and calls us both to the back wall to asks us something about an other department while we were working on something for a customer.)

    Advice to Management

    - it's nice that you promote people to ASM but at the same time it's not because they are not professionals at it. their head goes to the sky with that power.
    - Check the staff in each department before you make it official how is it possible that a department has 1 associate on a Saturday mid day while other have 5-7.
    - have a district manager check the Christmas party. or just give the gifts at the party for everyone too see don't hide them and give them out to the people you like.
