I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In IT the technology is top notch and they are not afraid of pushing the capabilities of technology to the benefit of the people in gaining knowledge and the benefit of the organization. Team environment where the exchange of ideas is not frowned upon and knowledge is not silo'd but shared. The best of the best as it pertains to the quality of people working at the depot.

Company has many opportunities to work across the organization and move around in the organization.

    Cons

Sometimes the pursuit of goals has an effect on the quantity and make-up of the people working. Though a company must adjust to strategy and market conditions, this at times shrinks the workforce. At times the company moves slower than desired in addressing unproductive behavior from people.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to deleterious behaviour within the organizations and make adjustments sooner than later before team morale and performance is impacted.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Vacation time and personal time. Tuition reimbursement. Opportunity for growth.

    Cons

Poor cut through management. Horrible schedule. The company went to set schedules for FT employees back in 2015 and it ruined the joy of working there. I was stuck with a closing shift. Ended up leaving when I finally realized no one cared how unhappy I was. Pay was also mediocre.

    Advice to Management

Do away with set schedules. A set rotation is way more enjoyable.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefit package for part time. Starting pay $11. Meeting new and diverse customers. Learning about the different products sold in store.

    Cons

Limited work/personal life balance schedule. Management nick picks constantly, management show favoritism, too many chiefs not enough Indians, management tend to have employees work harder than smarter (I.e. working on the same project but told by several managements on different occasion within shift to redo it another way), no cohesiveness. Managements speak of safety but when employees try to implement safety employees don’t receive the teamwork 50% of the time. If injured head management lacks empathy.

    Advice to Management

Improvement is needed desperately when it comes to interpersonal skills when pertains to managers/supervisors. The need of recognition of the contribution your employees make. More flexible schedule when it pertains to work/personal life balance (I.e. allow each employee to have at least 1 weekend off for family life) otherwise employee burnout.
    Stop senseless nick picking.
Have a true open door policy, oppose to just speaking of the open door policy.
    Be fair
    Have true empathy

Otherwise McDonough Ga HD will continue to loose GOOD employees
