I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)
Pros
One of my favorite pros is that everyone I’ve met is not only great at their role, but has a passion for it. There is a lot of team spirit and it’s obvious most people here at Home Depot love the company. The turnover rate is extremely low. Most people I’ve met had been in their roles 5+ years and were still happy. The ability to transition to a different area is encouraged as is learning new skills that benefit *any* part of Home Depot. Today I could manage paid search, but if I decided I wanted to be on the store operations team I just tell my manager and we work on a plan to get me there. I think the investment in individual employees sets the threshold for others, if not unmatched.
Cons
The benefits are surprisingly not as generous for SSC employees as with other major corporations I’ve worked for, but I am happy that the benefits are standard across all employees, including store (part time is soon getting the same as everyone else). I’m happy to have slightly less generous policies if it means all employees can qualify!
Advice to Management
Couch any managers who have a higher turnover than normal for the company. People leave managers, not companies and while my manager is excellent I have heard of some that are not.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Pros
Pay is better than fast food Somewhat flexible and works well for college students Everyone gets benefits even part timers which is great They really try to celebrate employees when they can which often means food in the break-room
Cons
Managers are constantly up your butt about credit and cashier friendliness scores Hard to move up if you're young (older folks get preference) Mind numbing-ly dull-- half the job is standing on hard concrete floors for hours at a time with minimum social interaction Often very cold or very hot depending on the season and cashiers often work outside (in Garden) Strict and automated late system. 6 strikes in a 6 month period and your automatically fired.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)
Pros
Very interesting, challenging and at times chaotic position. There was never a dull day. I loved working there. The management had a lot of faith and trust in the departments employees and respected the decisions that were made.
Cons
Very under staffed, underpaid for what the position entails, and the part time position just fell short of a few hours from being the hours required for a full time position.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Can build some great relationship and hone your skills.
Cons
Human Resources is not the neutral party that they should be.
Advice to Management
In too many areas of the company the "Good Old Boys" club still exist. People who do not follow the Core Values unless someone higher up is around. Sadly, it is usually Management and HR who are the most guilty.
