I have been working at The Home Depot as a contractor

    Pros

Keeps you in shape. The amount of work makes time fly by. You get to learn and talk about home improvement and cool project ideas. A bunch of different savings benefits with many other companies, like Verizon (25 percent off bill) that start right away. They have cool programs and often have free employee treats and food in the break room. They have their own community within the store and company that is nice. There is opportunity to advance and they will assist in coaching and helping by supplying the tools and training required.

    Cons

It is hard to get full-time at hire. They often start with 4 month seasonal contract. The pay isn't great and the job can be very labor oriented. The work can be physically demanding and not worth the pay. You have to go out of your way to be noticed if looking to advance. There are a lot of seasonal employees and because of that people don't have company loyalty so you find yourself having to do more to make up for others lack of productivity.

    Pros

    Great people to work with.

    Cons

Management thinks it is normal for their employees to have to work two jobs for their families.

    Advice to Management

Pay more, give out more full time.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best thing I find about Home Depot is that they encourage learning more and moving up. If you want to move up the ladder, you inform management and they will help you to get there, by guiding you to the right people, and making time for extra training.

    Cons

The main con I have is that I don't get to work enough. Just not getting the hours I need, nor are other cashiers, but more cashiers are being hired on all the time.

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.
