I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Growth and advancement, 401k, bonus, stock, health care, diversity and inclusion, tuition reimbursment, making a difference with customers amd associates.

    Cons

No work/life balance. Depending on the person, a lot of managers dont enjoy throwing out garbage in compactor, working in a dusty warehouse where you are constantly enhailing cement and thinset particles. Being on your feet for extended amounts of time, walking on a concrete floor can be bad for you feet and back. At times having to do physical labor, picking up heavy merchandise. Working 12 to 16 hour days.

    Advice to Management

Keep positive, there is a lot going on in these stores and its easy to get frustrated. You are expected meet many metrics and sales and store appearance all while making sure associates are happy and most of all you (the store) are rated high on customer survey. Its a lot, take the time to enjoy your own life when you are not there and fovua there when you are. Keep smiling, associates are looking.

    Pros

Friendly co-emplyees and managers. Lots of physical exertion so that there is no need to go to a gym. Lots to learn about merchandise.

    Cons

Short work hours for part time associates. Takes a while to be promoted or given a raise. The usual office politics.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Never worked with a bunch of nice people as I do with the Home Depot. The perks are great employee fund fund is awesome and the new set schedule for full-time employees is awesome..

    Cons

    always understaffed
    days off rotate
    Pay sucks

    Advice to Management

You need to get rid of success sharing and bring back better pay to your hard working and Associates. it's not fair that hard working employees get paid like crap after proving what they are worth. Specialist should get a commission there is no incentive for good employees to stay. .

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is okay if you're a student
    Tuition Reinburstment (after 1st year)
    Other benefits (401k, Health, Dental
Simple tasks (stocking, customer service, blah blah, blah

    Cons

    Retail
    Constant inventory issues
Gap between management and floor associates
    Silo mentality between departments
    Lagging technology wise
    Inexperienced associates using heavy machinery
Too much focus on credit and lead sales. (Top 30 company, why?)

    Advice to Management

Management needs to not take the term "management" so seriously. Yes, that is their job, but the gap between management to department head to associate is clear to see. No one respects management because they stand around and call it managing. One of the key traits a manager must possess is the ability to gain the respect of his/her employees, not force it. Communication!!!!! Communication is key. No one cares how hard you had to work to get the position. Once you have it, your job is to not only lead your people but identify with them so that you reach your goals together. Stop obsessing over numbers, and work with the people to get the job done respectfully and efficiently. Too much time is spent career chasing for a position that doesn't mean much at all.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The fact that there are other places to get a job at, so you dont have to be miserable here for the rest of your life.

    Cons

Horrible hours and pay.Lazy ,sneaky managment team that treats you like crap and if u have an issue they tell you to stop complaining and that they have more important issues to deal with..like eating lunch in the only room with a/c in the whole building. Also they cut half the peoples hours in a shift and expect one person to run 5 departments, but not pay you for it.

    Advice to Management

Get up and do something, and stop promoting new, uneducated, people who buy you coffee. Listen to your employees issues bc they will find other jobs. Salaried managers think theyre better than everyone .. actually your the laziest employees in the building
