I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved working here. they treat their employees very well and the managers I had we very good at doing their jobs and getting you to do yours without being mean.

    Cons

I didn't come across anything notably bad while I was there. The company has a slightly liberal mind-set in general, so if you consider yourself a conservative and don't want to support a liberal business, then you won't want to work here.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. I enjoyed working there, and my mangers were great.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Easy atmosphere, working with the public, no one looking over your shoulder like an office atmosphere

    Cons

salary, medical insurance cost is outrageous and almost unattainable with the salary that they pay

    Advice to Management

find insurance that the cost doesnt put the employees in the poverty level and the raises that are given do not keep up with the increase in insurance premium every year

    Pros

This is a great job for new managers so that they learn what not to do.

    Cons

They have a value wheel that are professed as their values. It is a line of lies. It only looks good to customers that don’t know better.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    You're not getting fired.
    Night shift works 4 10's
    Pay is enough to survive.
    Job covers variety of tasks.

    Cons

    You won't get promoted
    Your raises are laughable
Met and store are separate entities, its inefficient.

    Advice to Management

Promote based on ability, not how many years you can survive in poverty as an entry level employee.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the "physical" part of the job at THD. Loading, unloading, moving freight to the department and setting product to plan when needed. Those that enjoy the work or who are capable of doing the work will end up being taken advantage of by those who are lazy. Can't get rid of the lazy ones unless they don't show up or break a safety rule.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to the back stabbing that goes on in the workplace. The lazy folks will demean those who work too hard. They are A: jealous because they think that they are not capable of doing the work. B: just lazy and made to look bad by those who do the work.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy work for the most part friendly staff and funny customers. They actually do care about their employees nice break room(2 paid 15min breaks which is pretty awesome) understanding when you can’t come in or late.

    Cons

Some staff seem racist! Scheduling is horrible! Favoritism runs the store no stepping leaders for young people to grow! Get points and sick time taken if you don’t come in. No phones on floor.short staff one day over packed the next.

    Advice to Management

Scheduling could be done way better.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lot's of benefits; health, dental, and eye insurance are all very good. Everything is delegated, few positions have to be versatile in many different tasks.

    Cons

Other than the merchandising team people are not held accountable, the freight team offloads anything they don't want to get a ladder for into the nearest bay and floor associates wont stay in their departments. The entry level wages are inadequate (though better than some other retail employers) I work at a busy urban store and I do not have a car or any of the related expenses, I have a small one bedroom apartment that is literally the lowest rent in my area and I cant afford to live alone, I will have wracked up 10k in debt this year trying to pay for my rent, phone, and electric.

    Advice to Management

The freight team needs quality walks like the ones you have in the MET team, Lift equipment needs to be mandatory or incentivized, raise you entry level wages Saying "taking care of each other" in every monthly inFocus video is hypocritical when your lowest associates cant take care of their basic needs. and lastly either pay your sales people commission or stop giving them quotas to meet.
