I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Up beat place to work the Lake Charles store seem to have a great bunch of people in management. A few months ago I had to pick something up in lumber. I was amazed by the service and the attitude with everyone.
The last time I went into the store was about two years ago. In the past it really looked like employees didnt like working there. This is why Im working for Home Depot and not the other lumber companies.

    Cons

Hours change alot but always willing to work with you.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and now i can say come see us.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Will work with most associates to allow them time to attend college. College reimbursement for curriculum directly related to employment under The Home Depot

    Cons

Lay offs occur when sales go down, college reimbursement is extremely difficult to obtain, management is not held accountable for unethical conduct.

    Advice to Management

Hire ethical people, and enforce ethical regulations.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, promotion opportunities, benefits, really get to know home construction and repair, which may help you save in your own home.

    Cons

When I left, there weren't enough employees in my department, and they weren't hiring more. Also, their standards for "full time" are pretty high - there were some weeks where I was working 39 hours and still was considered part time. (My average was lower, to be fair.) Also, your schedule will fluctuate week to week so it is hard to maintain a regular schedule outside of work, too.

    Advice to Management

I realize it isn't entirely Home Depot's fault, but try to have enough people on staff rather than loading more work on fewer people. You'll get better quality that way.
