I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Fairly reasonable with time off requests. Annual raises. As full time employee, you are always scheduled 40 hours. Ability to transfer within the company to a different state. Fast paced and always changing.

    Cons

In my 15+ years I had seen alot of people come and go. Mostly, in the last few years, I witnessed a great deal of favoritism. It was disheartening to say the least. Unfornutaly when accusations are said, management would not look at the situation from both sides and would take the attitude that because a person was a "Supervisor" that person would automatically be correct in the accusation. There were many times that...

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Many of the Cashiers they hired were High Schoolers including myself at the time. The pay is much better than any other similar job and the hours are very very flexible! I was able to get consistent hours each week that worked well with my school schedule. Although I never used it, they seemed to have a great benefits package that even part-timers could utilize.

    Cons

There were no real incentives to move up. Head Cashiers were barely paid more than regular cashiers yet their duties and responsibility doubled. Many store managers push to cross-train people into multiple departments but even if you know each department fully, there's little to no rewards.

    Advice to Management

Give more incentives to want to improve and grow

I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

You can transfer wherever you would like to live in US , Canada.

    Cons

You’ll go a entire year , with 2 reviews , and the one that counts , won’t exceed 75 cents and normally 2.2% of what u make , which normally adds up to 25-50 cents average After 6 yrs , that’s the one thing I’ll tell you. Don’t waste your time .

    Advice to Management

    Improve company morale , it’s

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Some of the coworkers are decent people - Emphasis on career development: management seems to think you'll be with the company for decades

    Cons

    - Typical retail job: amount of hours fluctuate, customers flood the place, and there is a definite emphasis on the quantity of bays processed rather than the quality. That said, the higher-ups then complain about the poor service quality exacted on the bays.

    Advice to Management

Have the employees slow down and take their time in order to ensure that every bay is as good as it's going to get. The wages, of course, should be raised to at least fifteen dollars per hour. A livable wage shouldn't be too much to ask for from one of the top-earning retailers in the world.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Decent wage for a part-time job - Co-workers were cool with me - Encouraged career development

    Cons

    - Lack of employees in the aisles to help out customers - Unorganized/negligent product storage led to long waiting times and outraged customers - Cliques between management and some employees

    Advice to Management

Even though I was an employee of a subsidiary of THD and not an employee under store management, I had the obligation of helping out customers because there were not enough employees covering their departments. Hire more employees to cover the aisles and develop a well-organized storage system (overhead storage in the aisles).

    Pros

Good coworkers, a lot you can learn from the job.

    Cons

You can be told to do something by a manager then fired for it later on.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Established, well-known company Professional environment Routine work

    Cons

Part-time employees are not given full-time Micro-managing runs rampant Pay and benefits are very low

    Advice to Management

Micro-managing your employees is counter-productive and breeds resentment. Morale is not helped by perpetually unstocked break rooms with unserviced equipment. There's a lot of talk about "core values", but put your money where your mouth is if you expect to build strong teams for quality customer service.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Great people to work with. Very supportive of one another. The flexible hours help manage family responsibilities. Clean and safe environment.

    Cons

Insurance costs are going up and their benefits administrator will not accept any claims for long term or short term disability even if there are many doctors who state the person can't work.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what your insurance managers are doing. Denying legitimate claims and acting like they are running their own company is shameful.
