I worked at The Home Depot full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people to work with, pay is competitive. Depending on your job, your shift may be stable (ex Merchandising Team is M-F 6am-3pm). Benefits are pretty good for single (not so much for family coverage). Recently increased starting pay.

    Cons

Location is everything. One store can be great to work at, while another is hell. Can be cliquey. New management style is to track every detail of every minute. Some employees are "untouchable." No matter how bad they perform they cannot be disciplined.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people when they give you hard numbers to show the reasonable expectations are not reasonable. Don't just be yes men to the regional managers.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I come into work and know it’s going to be a very amazing experience. Our associates are hard workers who genuinely care about one another. Our Management give us a very appreciative environment with actual recognition backed with nurturing ways. I had to go to the ER when my health took a sharp turn into dangerous territory. I was terrified I would lose a job I love. I got a phone call and dread over took me. It...

    Cons

The only con I can guess is working part time when I would love to work full time and really grow through hard work. I’m just going to keep going and taking initiative to meet that goal.

    Advice to Management

Thank you. You all are amazing. The only advice I have would be to the higher ups in recognition of how our Management team works because they truly deserve it.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Met great people, had fun while employees. Monthly reviews came with food.

    Cons

Corrupt, a hustle, pyramid scheme, biased, corporate propagandists using an orange apron as symbolic. Only the "upper class" employment make the real money. If you need up once you are targeted. Empty replies that we all know are automated, will not take to any opinionated comments from employees. Dangerous work environment. Little pay. Check every two weeks and it is still low. Terminations given regardless of your situations.

    Advice to Management

I would stop with automated replies that make no sense to the positive criticism for how to improve. I worked at location # 1407, the worst store in the southwest division. I was fired for my performances when my punctuality was worse. Never given notice to an investigation of my employment not being adequate to the company at all. Improved my performances, yet fired out of how in a situation of 5 people in the unload...

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Diversity! The company (at least at a corporate level) is actually really committed to diversity, which is a truly great thing. - People! My co-workers are, for the most part, an amazing and wonderful group of people who look out for each other. - Pay is decent for retail. - Good training programs. - Opportunity for advancement. - You get to learn new skills, like operating a forklift. ;) - Flexibility...

    Cons

When I started working at THD, it seems there were plenty of people on the floor. That diminished over time. Now we are spread terribly thin, and sometimes there are only two or three sales associates in the whole store in the evening. When someone quits, they are not replaced. Department heads are now expected to also work the floor as well as keep up with their regular duties, and departments are merged so that there...

    Advice to Management

Stop working people to death. Worry more about personal interactions and less about cosmetics in the stores. You can have all the spiffy displays, "wayfinding", and fancy schmancy, but if there are not enough employees on the floor to offer the customer a positive purchasing experience, you will not have happy customers for long. Turnover will keep increasing as well, because WE are the ones who have to deal with the...

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for less than a year

    Pros

they hire anyone. if you have another job forget trying to be on a set schedule. they bully you into signing up for open availability and one day you will go in a 6am and the next you will go in at 6pm

    Cons

they will work you any shift possible, but only give you 20 hours a week. they have angry people who are in charge and always drama. they act like they are focused on their employees, but they will not hire enough so that there is enough people to properly take care of the customers. you can not get full time until you have been there for 90 days. and you will be lucky if you get it then. it's fine if you don't mind...
