I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The management generally works around your availability very nicely. If you need to ask time off, it will generally be given as long as you put it in a decent amount of time in advance. Also, the team work is generally pretty good. The success sharing is nice too. The computer training can be a lot sometimes, but you are given time to finish it.

    Cons

You are not always guaranteed the same hours each week. There may be a time in the winter and a time in the mid to late summer when hours might drop. This is to be expected because it is in the retail industry.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to help and encourage staff members. Thank you.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is fair in most areas, flexible hours, work is not too straining

    Cons

Management is certainly good at most stores, but many DH's and ASM's don't care about their workers.

I have been working at The Home Depot (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My hours since I am a pro cashier and work with the contractors my hours are Monday - Friday.
Learn a lot about practical home Improvement. My contractors.

    Cons

The wages are very low compared to even McDonalds and other retailers. They are not consistent with employees when it comes to doing or giving raises. They hire in people and pay them more then employees that have been there for a long time.

    Advice to Management

Be fair in everything that is done with loyal employees.

Layed back atmosphere. People are nice. Flexible schedule.

Pay and houres. They don't hire from within.

    Advice to Management

Hire/promote from within. Give people full-time and a living wage.

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Taking time off was never an issue. You can work around other schedules like school or another job. You can control the amount of hours you want to work if in a part time position. You also receive success sharing checks every six months.

    Cons

Like any sales position the most difficult part of the day is dealing with customers. It is difficult to come to work and deal with angry people. Especially if you have a list of tasks to complete. The turn over rate is high and this is due to people not showing up for shifts. I have had a lot of instances where I am stuck alone because someone did not choose to show up for work or notify anyone about it.

    Advice to Management

Increase hour wages. The store makes a tremendous amount of money and I think people would work hard for more money.
