    Pros

The best thing for me was my co-workers, they were awesome, also the ability to,change departments once you feel you've learned all you could.
Homer badges are nice way,of,letting you, know you,did a good job, after getting 12 you get 100$ and a nice watch.

Also the feeling you,get when you've helped a customer complete a project, or solve a problem

    Cons

The infamous "round table" where they decide what the, raises will be like, for, individual employees. And favoritism towarss who will be promoted.

    Advice to Management

Promote based on merit, not what management "recommends"

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learn how to prioritize tasks. Find acceptable solutions for difficult or confusing assignments. Works on your time management. Multitasking with distractions.

    Cons

Short staffed, strenuous workload, & always pressed for time. Having to pick up the slack from another department. Being relied upon to go above & beyond to have the store 'grand opening ready'

    Advice to Management

Hire more freight associates & get rid of slackers. Take care of valued associates & they will be willing to do more.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some pros are the people you work with are easy to get along with most employees got a nice friendly vibe.

    Cons

Higher management like store managers only see things one sided from their view, they could care less about the other employees only the favorites.

    Advice to Management

Some advice would be to actually do the job your given and show the associates that you care about them and are not just using them to make you look good. Like actually walk up to an employee and just talk like work buddies do.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

*If you love helping people this is an excellent environtment.
    *Good medical benefits
*Profit sharing, even though its not huge
    *Tuition reimbursement
*Easy to advance with the right attitude

    Cons

*Associates talents are not always utilized in the correct manner
*People in similar job settings are paid a lot more for their job responsibilities
*Associates reviews are not always fair and consistent, a lot of bias tends to be thrown in mixed with personal feelings, no proper evaluation of ones skills vs weaknesses.
*No constant feedback during the year to let associates know what they need to improve on, only during their mid year or yearly reviews, which by then is way too late.
*Associates that do get promoted to the ASM level tend to not always be the best candidate for the position, a lot of favoritism and if you are a brown noser with Store Management. It's not how hard you work or what your numbers look like for the department you are in charge of.
*There is no second chance, you can be fired for the simplest of reason or no reason.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time accessing your associates strengths, get to know them.
Teach, coach, train and develop your associates, motivate then to work harder by setting the right example. We know you love to delicate, but a great leader is not afraid to jump in the mix with their associates and get their hands dirty when time calls for it.
Impart your knowledge on others, so HD can produce better and more talented associates
*This is for corporate, in order to retain the best talent, there needs to be a better system of pay. Offer associates a better option when it comes time for then to buy stocks, not everyone can afford to purchase them. Maybe 1 free stock for every X amount of hours you work.
