    Pros

Stable company. Clear outline of job duties and job review. Opportunity to grow within a retail atmosphere.

    Cons

Unprofessional management team. General disconnect with technology, customer needs and how to maximize employee talents.

    Advice to Management

Offer better pay structure. Stronger rewards. Less dependency on corporate matrixes for credit cards and numbers. More focus on customers. With a true emphasis on customer needs within micro markets.

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Much room for career advancement

    Cons

    Training needs to be improved

    Advice to Management

Improve training and acquaint yourself with staff. Too many line staff don't know who is who on the management level because you don't speak to them.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One assistant store manager was good, loved working with customers

    Cons

New store manager came in and changed entire moral at the store....firing good people and threatening some people that if their medical restrictions went on too long they wouldn't be working any more. He would cut them out of the schedule saying they didn't have any work for them due to their medical restrictions.

    Advice to Management

Some managers need to get off their high horse when they get a new store and get to know their good employees...watch how hard they work, notice the ones that even the regional manager noticed with rewards, instead of being a dictator. The company lost some really good people because of this person. And some assistant managers also have to stop acting like GODS....telling a woman she has to lift 100 pounds by her self if she's going to stay in a department, is against company policy. She was put in that department by a previous Store manager and knew she did an awesome job. Another great person Home Depot lost due to poor management! Beware...this is a clicky company that only promotes if you kiss butt. Too many chiefs not enough Indians!

Have the ability to interact with people; It's an environment that a person can feel confident in and management was very helpful.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and give a fair chance to everyone to have alternating weekends and holidays off. Your employees will respect you more for it.

    Pros

great way to learn about business, but you need to put a lot of effort into learning on your own.

    Cons

They will promote people not suitable for management, when others show great promise. If you are looking for management position, best to apply from outside company rather than move up through ranks.

    Advice to Management

Look at the talent you have and promote the deserving people no matter who they are before hiring from the outside.
