I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fabulous! Pay and benefits were always top notch. They truly take care of you as family.

    Cons

Can have some long hours and days but everyone is dedicated and knows it isn't always like that.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good medical, other than that there aren’t really any. Lied to during the interview and used and abused during my employment.

    Cons

Disposable position. Lowest salaried position within division and least supported. If you want to get treated like trash this job is for you. Manager in title only. Worst job I have ever had and pay is way undervalued for what you do. No work life balance as you are required to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

    Advice to Management

Have had many “Town Hall” meetings with Sr. Management. They will tell you they hear you and acknowledge the issues and “promise to work on it” but never do and in fact will often add responsibilities but never take off your plate or will not add compensation for these added responsibilities. Raises, if any, are usually about 1/2% per year.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can pick the hours you want to work.
Most of the time the work is easy.
    Low stress and laidback.
Co workers are nice and helpful.
    Easy hiring process.
The managers are patient and helpful.

    Cons

Part time work pays $12.00 per hour. No benefits or employee discount.
Product training is poor. You have to learn on your own.
The store is understaffed, at times you can be swamped with customers.
The scheduling makes no sense. 12 hours one week. 20 plus hours the next week.

    Advice to Management

    Offer employees better training.
Pay more and there we be less employee turn over.

    Pros

Can Exercise on Job, Customer/Employee interaction, Wide range of shift options, Friendly Coworkers, decent pay

    Cons

No talk of raises, require lift certifications for certain positions, management slow to fix problems, scheduling errors, poor work/home flexibility, poor school/work flexibility

    Advice to Management

Work around student schedules more often. When certain days are requested months in advance, honor them. Be the good role models for employees to follow.

    Pros

Customers humble and looking for tips and how-to's

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Associates! Decent benefits. Management recognizes effort.

    Cons

Must attend meetings even if you are scheduled off - usually on Sunday at 6 am. Not great schedules and you are given your schedule a week and a half ahead of time. Impossible to plan anything. Usually understaffed. Spend a huge part of your day looking for things because no tracking for overhead items.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the Home Depot cheer at meetings. It doesn't produce camaraderie or pride. It feels like a child like environment. Thin out some of the middle management (corporate) and invest in making it less of a chaotic environment at the lower level.

I worked at The Home Depot full-time

    Pros

Everything is great till you have the same Store Manager. For some reason Home Depot love to move them around. Know 2 stores which were destroyed after doing that. Fun place to work, unless you have an amazing manager and assistants.

    Cons

No life outside Home Depot. Not a decent pay. No place to grow...... or there is but you should have somebody standing behind your back and super slow.

    Advice to Management

    Stop moving around store managers.
