    Pros

People that I worked with that were not management were nice people. I also had good hours and it was an easy job for what it was.

    Cons

I didn't like the little pay for hard work. Management also didn't care about any employees. They act like they do, but they really really don't at all.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the management at Home Depot would be to treat you employees kinder. I often felt attacked verbally by management and like I was constantly being watched by them.

    Pros

I worked with 2 individuals who came to be very dear friends and always made the job enjoyable when they were on duty.
They were no other Pros for working there unless you are a student or in dire need of a job.

    Cons

Very poor pay; little recognition of performance; focus is on what you might be doing wrong. Supervisors are NOT WORKING supervisors, they tend to just order the associates around under the guise of providing customer service. We lost 1 FT employee and 2 PT employees in my department which they never replaced; the remaining employees had to pick up the difference, yet our dept was the only one to make their sales quota every week! In the final 6 months of working there I spent more time processing freight left over from the night crew, returns and repacks (orange stripe boxes) than I did selling to customers. The more they found out you could do, the more that was asked of you, without even a word of "thanks". I did make it to the Bronze level of Homer Awards in the year I was there, so I was not a slacker or malcontent.

    Advice to Management

Pay people based on the experience they bring to the job. It is grossly unfair to pay someone with 20+ years of construction/contracting experience $11.25 and pay individuals who joined THD before Atlanta took over the wage aspect of hiring $20.00 - $25.00 an hour for generally more work output. Also, pay raises should be based on PERFORMANCE, not the paltry 2.5-3.0% as called for in the "playbook". Supervisors should also be required to work along their associates a set amount of time in their respective department.

    Pros

Some of the benefits are nice.

    Cons

Everyone with a supervisor position or higher treat the ones below then terribly.

    Advice to Management

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers and managers are very helpful even if you just need someone to talk to they are there for you. You always get training on up to date system changes. They test you on how to look for stolen/hidden items and how customers could trick you .

    Cons

Not enough room for full time unless you apply for a new posting to work out on the floor/sales

I worked at The Home Depot part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Your schedule is pretty flexible for part time workers, and for the most part, your coworkers are amazing

    Cons

It seems that once you enter a position of power at Home Depot, you change, and not for the better. Management definitely plays favorites at this company. It doesn't matter how hard you work, if they don't like you, you'll be treated like dirt. The company also hires new people, with no experience, at a higher rate than people who have been working there for years get.

    Advice to Management

Take a business course! Learn that the employees make the company, and you should treat them fairly and with respect.
